Attendance and Punctuality

Group work and working in a professional environment are two fundamental components of the
Systems courses. In this context, it is imperative that every student treat group members and
classmates with respect by exhibiting punctual attendance at all group and class activities.

It is, of course, understandable that perfect attendance is unrealistic. Should illness or other
unfortunate circumstance prevent punctual attendance, due consideration will be given to the
student by the instructor. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of any such
circumstances.

Attendance and Punctuality Policy

Students who are late or miss a class due to unfortunate circumstances are responsible for
informing the instructor of the circumstance.

Students arriving after attendance is taken are responsible for informing the instructor of
their presence.

If a student misses any three classes without acceptable excuse, the student’s course
grade will be reduced by a full letter. Any late arrival to class without acceptable excuse
will constitute a ½ absence.

Any student who continues to exhibit poor punctuality and / or attendance beyond the
three class limit may have further penalties assessed which range from further grade
reduction to assessment of a failing grade.
