Problem Sheet: Sections of solids

Q1. A cube of 40 mm side is resting on one of the corners in the HP. The solid diagonal
contained by this corner is vertical and two-end faces perpendicular to the VP.  It is cut by a
plane perp...endicular to the VP and parallel to HP so that the cut surface in the top view appears
as an equilateral triangle of max size. Draw sectional front and top view.

Q2. A hexagonal prism of base side 25 mm and axis 65 mm long has its own rectangular face in
the HP and axis is inclined at 30 degree to the VP. Its one corner of base is in the HP. It is cut by
a vertical plane at a distance of 48 mm in front of VP. Draw its sectional front view.

Q3. A pentagonal pyramid base 30 mm side and axial height 60 mm, lies in one of its triangular
faces in the HP with axis parallel to the VP. It is cut by a sectional plane normal to the HP and
inclined at 30 degree to VP and passing through the middle point of axis, thus removing the
apex. Draw the apparent shape and true shape of section.

Q4.  A cone of 50 mm base diameter axis 50 mm long, is resting on its base in the HP. It is cut
by a sectional plane perpendicular to the HP and parallel to VP at a distance 10 mm from apex
towards the observer. Draw the top view and sectional front view.

Q5. A sphere of 80 mm diameter is cut by a sectional plane perpendicular to the VP, is inclined
at 45 degree to the HP and at a distance of 15 mm from its center. Draw the sectional top view
and true shape of the section.
