A Look In The Different Kinds of Soaps

There are basically different types of soap. Admit it, soaps are very essential to us especially if we want
to clean ourselves as well as out things. Because this has been proven to be very effective in cleaning,
manufacturers have made different kind of soaps fit for specific purposes. Take a look inside each type
of soap which we may or may not be using at present.

Personal Soaps

These soaps are the ones which we use to take a bath or for hand washing everyday. These soaps have
been formulated to match our skins with the right pH and composition. These are usually made with
chloroxylenol (PCMX) which have strong antimicrobial properties. They can kill an amazing 99.9% of the
dirt found on our skin which we get everyday from contact with things and cause such diseases and
illnesses. Some detergent soaps are made to remove the dirt by suspension on the foam and goes along
as you wash away with water. Due to the fact that we all have different skin types, there are some
personal soaps which have moisturizers for the skin and maintain our skin to be as soft as possible.
Kitchen Soaps

These soaps were specially formulated for dishwashing. They are able to remove bacteria as well as the
grease and smell that are left on our plates and glasses after we eat. There are two different kinds of
kitchen soaps – detergent and cleansers.

Detergents are usually used for grease removal on our kitchen tools. They remove all the particles left
without leaving any trace of oil and grease. Suspension is the main mechanism that they use so
everything will be washed away with the foam. The dishwashing detergents do differ for the
handwashing and the machine washing type. The handwashing detergents do produce a more foam and
can work at lower temperatures. The dishwashing detergents, which we used for machines are less
foamy and do clean at higher temperatures.

Cleansers on the other hand are the ones which are used to remove sold particles and soils which have
hardened on the surface. These effectively cleans by the abrasion mechanism that it uses to remove the
build up, stains and heavy soil. Of course, these are available in different degrees. There are some
cleansers which are the cream cleansers while the powdered cleansers are the harshest type. So do pick
one which is the most appropriate for you.

Laundry Soaps

These soaps are used when we wash our clothes. They are mild soaps which are used on different types
of fabrics that remove the soils, stains, oils and things which can stay long in the fibers. Different types
of laundry soaps range from powder, liquid and gel. All of them work well in all temperatures and water
conditions. They are very effective but you should always remember to separate whites from colored
fabrics because the dye of the fabric are also lifted as these are cleaned and might stain the white
garments that you have.

Novelty Soaps

Novelty soaps include the soap in the shape of a rubber ducky and the soap-on-a-rope, made not only to
clean, but for enjoyment as well. Soaps may be made novel by their shape and/or coloring. There are
novelty soaps for children, for example, a bar of soap can have a toy inside or be formed like a crayon
and used to draw on the tub. As with other types of soap, you can purchase novelty soaps or make your
own. Many specialty soap molds are available in a vast array of ethnic, holiday, and other shapes.

Beauty Soaps

Beauty soaps are likely to feature attractive fragrances, and ingredients to address a variety of skin
types. Beauty soaps may feature glycerin, or special oil blends, for example, combining Shea butter, with
coconut palm oil and other oils.

Guest Soaps

Guest soaps are usually miniature soaps, molded into attractive shapes and designed for use by guests in
the main bathroom, or in a separate guest bathroom. Popular shapes are flowers, sea shells, and
rounds.
Conventional Soaps

Conventional soaps that are activated by the action of an alkali on fat or fatty acids. They come in liquid,
bar or powder form.

Lotions

Lotions that are applied externally to skin for conditioning or treating skin ailments.

Antimicrobial Soaps

Antimicrobial soaps that destroy or inhibit the growth of microorganisms.

Antiseptic Soaps

Antiseptic soaps that fight bacterial invaders of the body. An antiseptic handwash agent has
antimicrobial activity and is designed for use on skin to remove bacteria.

Foam Soaps

Foam soaps that are infused with air, creating a lather for more thorough coverage. Less water is used
for lathering, which cuts hand washing time.
