• Title page
– Name of institution
– Person to whom the report is to be submitted
(lecturer’s name)
– Unit name
– Title of report
– Author (your name and student number)
– Date of submission

– History and the current understanding (requires a
literature survey)

– Analysis (calculations) and verification of results

Formats
• Section numbers
• Page numbers
• Units (e.g. N/m2, or Pa)
• Formula or equation numbers
• Figures and graphs (axes, units, caption (title))
• Tables (headings, units, caption)
• Referencing
Style
• Short sentences (small is beautiful!)
• Use third person (e.g. “mine plan was drawn”
instead of “I drew the mine plan”)
• Spelling, grammar – use Word spell checker
