ANTIHTPERTENSIVE
INTRODUCTION
• Hpertension is a medical condition in which
the blood pressure is elevated.It is also
reffered as High blood pressure.
• CLASSIFICATION:-
1)Primary(essential) Hypertension
2)Secondary Hypertension
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

1)In neonates & infants- Failure of thrives,


seizure, irritability, respiratory distress.
2)In children- Headache, fatigue, blurred vision,
epistaxis.
3)Chronic Hypertension- Centripetal obesity,
onset of diabetes, vertricular hypertrophy.
CAUSES

1)Essential Hypertension-
>90-95% of hypertensive patients.
>Sendentary lifestyle, Stress, Visceral obesity, alcohol
intake.
>Aging, inherited genetic mutation, family history.
2)Secondary Hypertension-
>Cushing’s syndrome
>Congenital abnormality
DIAGNOSIS
Laboratory Tests:-
PREVENTION
• Weight reduction & regular aerobic exercise
• Reducing dietary sugar intake
• Reducing sodium in the diet
• Discontinuing tobacco use & alcohol
consumption
• Reducing stress
