Dose & duration appropriate:

Oral:

In Uk, 600mg daily in divided doses,increased every 3 days by 200mg daily to u usual dose of

1-2 g daily(20-30mg/kg/day)

Max.dose is 2.5g daily.

In USA, an initial dose of 15mg/kg/day,increased at one week intervals by 5-10mg/kg/day

Max. dose is 60mg/kg/day

Dose of SV is from 600-1800mg daily in divided doses.

Parenteral:

SV may be administered by slow i.v infusion or injection.

Initial dose is upto 10mg/kg followed by further doses as necessary,upto a max. of 2.5g/day
For Children:

Oral:

For children more than 20 kg of weight ,dose is 400mg daily(irrespective of the wt),gradually
increased upto a max. dose of 20-30mg/kg/day

For children weighing less than 20 kg ,dose is 20mg/kg/day,gradually increased upto a max.

Dose of 40mg/kg/day.
