Whiter Teeth – without the wait!

I’m sure that we’ve all read about tooth whitening in the press or seen it on TV programmes like 10
Years Younger and Extreme Makeover. Now there is a new development that will make the process
even quicker and more effective – Laser Whitening. But, what is involved? How long could it take?
Will it impinge upon my enjoyment of life?!

Why would I want my teeth whitened?

 First impressions last and more often than not the first thing that people notice about you is
your smile. A beautiful smile can do more to enhance your appearance than nearly anything
else
 A whiter smile can really make you feel good about yourself
 Tooth whitening is relatively low cost
 Good results can be obtained quickly

What is involved in Laser Whitening?

This latest advancement in tooth whitening uses a laser to accelerate the whitening process in the
dental surgery. The laser helps speed up the chemical reaction of the whitening gel and means that
whiter teeth can be achieved much more quickly. Your dentist will apply the whitening gel to your
teeth using a tray system similar to a sporting gum shield. Oxygen from the active ingredient within
the whitening gel penetrates the tooth’s enamel surface helping stains to disappear without causing
damage to the surrounding structure.

Unlike traditional home whitening, laser whitening is carried out purely in the practice in a single
visit and often in around an hour. Just think, you could go to the dentist’s in your lunch break and
walk out with whiter teeth!

One of the few local dentists to offer this advanced laser whitening is Dr Ian Clift of Dentique dental
practice in Leicester. Ian explained, “we are always on the lookout for the latest technology to
benefit our patients. We use the Biolase whitening system as it provides great results in the shortest
possible time. Many power whitening treatments can take over an hour and a half but the Biolase
allows patients to complete the treatment within an hour.”

So, if you want to give your smile a bit of extra sparkle then perhaps laser whitening could be worth
investigating.
