Audience research Mk2.

The title of the survey contained the question 'Do you like school based comedies?' This may have
been a bit closed minded, but I did not want to change my whole idea again. Plus, it would mean
that the majority of the people filling in the survey would actually be interested in my film, and I
would only have to find out what my target audience was, as opposed to whether I had one or not.

1. How old are you?

This Question was to gauge the age of my target audience

<9 0%
9-12 18%
13-16 24%
16-19 46%
20-25 3%
25+ 9%

2. Do you think that a comedic theme is appropriate for a short film?

Yes 88%
No 12%

3. Do you think a mockumentary of a charity campaign in a school would work in a short film
context?

Yes 82%
No 18%

4. Do you like mini-interviews in comedy TV programs and films? (eg. The office)

This question was to see if my idea for easy character development is a viable one, while still
keeping the audience on board with the concept.

Yes 72%
No 28%

5. Do you think the use of stereotypical characters (e.g. Nerd, Jock etc)
Yes 42%
Yes, but sparingly 39%
No 18%
This is to check that using stereotypes will not lead to the alienation of the audience - it
shows what level of realism they expect from a comedy. I was quite surprised when the
results showed they actually like it.
