    NAFTA has significantly increased trade between the US, Canada, and Mexico. Trade volumes have grown faster within North America than US trade with other regions since NAFTA was signed. However, trade patterns have also been affected by the peso crisis and recovery in Mexico as well as the relative strength of the US economy. Overall, NAFTA has succeeded in substantially liberalizing intra-North American trade.
