I was 18 years old and had purchased my first car, a 1964 Ford Falcon.

And as

wonderful as that car was it broke down a lot. And when it did break down I can still

hear my mother saying to me, “You’ve got two arms don’t you?” “Yeah, Mom.” “Then,

fix it yourself!” Dr Stephen Ilardi sounds a lot like my mother. Are you depressed?

You’ve got two arms don’t you? Then fix it yourself!

Dr Ilardi has created a way to fight depression on several fronts. And yet all these

fronts can be self-administered, at least in theory. If you have difficultly he shows how

you can incorporate assistance as needed.

Dr Ilardi attacks our modern day lifestyle. He points out that several of elements

of modern life are antagonistic to a healthy life. And that several of these changes have

direct connections to depression.

The answer? We need to re-integrate missing pieces of our hunter-gatherer

heritage to regain mental health.

What are the missing pieces? There are six; Sunlight, Exercise, Sleep, Missing

Supplements, and Social Contact.

Dr Ilardi does a good job describing in detail what research shows about each

element and shows what you need to do to regain balance.
