Analysing PSA Campaigns

The name of this advert is THINK! – Don’t drink and drive. They key message in this advert is
that you should not drink and drive after you have had alcohol and you have gone over the
limit which you should have if you are driving and you should not be under any temptation
to have another drink and then drive. It is communicated as a video because; therefore it
will be shown on televisions, internet, etc. It is also communicated in two different views
one view is of what will happen if you drink and drive and the other is you drinking, it is
played by one person who is doing two different roles of two different views. The advert can
be seen on the internet, on the television and it can also be played as an audio only on
radio’s but that is unlikely. I found this advert on the internet on a video sharing site called
YouTube. This advert is behind a wider campaign of stopping people drink driving around
the United Kingdom, the campaign advertises using posters, leaflets, the internet and on the
television. The agency behind this campaign is “THINK”. From this advert I could take the
camerawork because, it switches into two different views which would be good for my
advert and I could also use the logo of the agency because it stands out and it is in bold. In
terms of content I could take the message used in this advert to help me make my own
advert.

The name of this campaign is anti knife crime – life isn’t reversible - Tameside drop the
knives. The key message in this advert is that you should not take a knife and use it illegally
to stab someone or threatens someone with it and you should “drop” meaning leave the
knives at home. It is communicated using flashbacks and the story of what the teenager who
is in prison did using the knife and how he ended up in prison showing that this can happen
to anybody who uses knives illegally. The advert can be seen on the internet and televisions;
I found this advert on the internet on a video sharing site called YouTube. The agency
behind this campaign is drop the knives. It is part of a wider campaign telling people to drop
the knives and not take them out. In terms of style I would probably take the sound of
where the teenager is running to help me make my advert and in terms of content I would
take the message but I would change it around so it would me making my advert about
global warming.
