Bulletin 51.1 :CE

Design CE valve bodies (figure 1) are globe-style, singleport valves with stem guiding and quick-change trim. They have multiple-trim options, standard full-size and restricted-capacity trims with metal seat rings, and, for positive shutoff, a composition seat (see figure 2). The combination of steel or stainless steel separable flanges with alloy bodies makes these valve bodies ideal for economical control of corrosive fluids encounted in the chemical processing or other industries. They are also well-suited for controlling nonlubricating, viscous, or other hard-to-handle fluids.

Features

• Flow Efficiency-Streamlined flow passages allow smaller port diameters which require lower actuator force_s. Also,.the flow p~ssage. is designed to p.rovi~ se_IV' flushing action, avoldinq buildup of deposits om trim

<>

surfaces. /~~ \

• Valve Plug Stability-Two ruggeg, widely spaced packing box guide bushings and an oversized valve stem are provided to stabilize and guide the valve plug throughout its travel. This reduces vibration and mechanical noise.

• Economy-Alloy valve bodies use economical WCB steel or 316 stainless steel separable flanges, eliminating the cost of integral flanges of expensive alloys. Due to their unique design, the separable flanges are lightweight, but still in compliance with ASME code stress requirements. Separable flanges also aid interchangeability, reducing the cost of inventory.

• Application Flexibility-The Design CE valve body accepts a full range of equal percentage and linear valve plugs designed to handle a wide range of flow requirements. Micro-Flow and restricted trims can be easily replaced with full-capacity trim. The valve plug/stem assemblies in the 1/2, 3/4, 1, and 1-1/2 inch bodies are interchangeable.

:'..

• Ease of Maintenance-There are no threaded or tightly guided internal parts to create maintenance problems. Once the bonnet and valve plug have/ been removed, the seat ring retainer and seat ring can be lifted out.

• Easy Parts Identification-Trim parts are permanently marked to show valve size, characteristic, material, and flow coefficient.

• Longer Life-Many alloys and hardened materials are available in the Design CE valve to increase body, bonnet, and trim life .
