INTRODUCTION

•Santa Cruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) is a Special


Economic Zone in Mumbai, India. Situated in the andheri east area.
•SEEPZ was established in 1973 and was seen as export processing
zone(EPZ).
•On september 1974 SEEPZ started its operation with 5 export unit
•It is subjected to liberal economic laws as compared to the rest of India to
promote rapid economic growth using tax and business incentives and attract
foreign investment and technology.
•In 1999 SEEPZ was made FTZ
•SEZ policy was announced in 2000
•SEEPZ was turn into SEZ on 1-1-2003
PRESENT APPROVAL PROCESS

• First stage: Gives in principal clearance to project that do not


possess land.
• Second stage: Gives formal approval to project after land is
acquired.
• Third stage: Notifies SEZs after the zones get all required
clearance at the state level.
• Fourth stage: Approves authorized activities in the zones
