Each student has to work on one of the following projects and submitted a comprehensive, typed, and bound report (2 Copies) at
the end of the second semester.
Process Based Project : Manufacture of a product-Equipment - Based Project: Detailed design of the equipment for a given
capacity-experiment - based project: Experimental investigation of a basic or applied research problem
The report shall consist of collection of literature, study of the various processes available, selection of the process, calculation
of material and energy balances, process design of important equipment, cost estimation, plant location and layout, safety aspects,
detailed design of experimental set-up, treatment of data, conclusions, bibliography, etc. - as applicable to the individuals
problems .
Each student is expected to complete about one third of the quantum of work involved during this semester. In case of Process
based project, each student is expected to complete up to calculation of mass and energy balances.
The balance of the work will be continued under course No. CH – 499

Each student will be assigned a topic of interest in Chemical Engineering. A report will be submitted before presenting it. The
presentation is to be for a duration of half an hour which will be followed by discussion. The topic is to be selected from outside
the purview of prescribed text books preferably from published articles.
