Goal: To understand the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency

Objectives:

1. Students will understand the importance of making a 911 phone call.


2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how to make a 911 phone call.

Activities

1. Ask students what do you do if someone in your family or where you are at is hurt,
choking, or not breathing? ( answer is to call 911)
2. Tell me the first step to calling 911
3. If you have a pretend phone, or cell phone have students practice if you are using a cell
phone DO NOT ACTUALLY PRESS 911
4. Have students write down their address so they know right off the top of their head
their address.
5. Explain that when you call 911 you must give your name, address and the emergency.
6. Have students pretended call and you are the 911 operator.
7. Practice a few times.
8. Wrap up the lesson by asking why you think it is important for you to know how to call
911.

Based on the lesson I will continue to practice making 911 phone calls because this is a very
important life skill students must have.
