Shakespeare writes the 45th sonnet about his desire and thoughts. He is a

depressed male. He is having a conflict with his emotions. This is taking place within him

in his mind. Love is the catalyst that starts this.

This first stanza of the sonnet is about explaining his problems with himself. In

the second stanza he shows a change for a brief moment but then it goes away. The most

essential line in the poem is “This told, I joy, but then no longer glad, I send them back

again and straight grow sad.” As he learns his health is getting better he gets happy about

that, but he still remembers about his love and desire and quickly becomes sad again. The

primary emotion in this sonnet is love/ depression. The words purging, tender embassy,

and swift messaging are emotionally packed words. There is one example of an paradox:

present absent. It is talking
