Dear Governor Snyder,

I am a constituent from the Plymouth-Canton Community School District. I strongly oppose your
proposed cuts to K-12 education in the 2012 and 2013 projected budgets. Your proposal to include
higher education funding into the school aid fund will be detrimental to providing an outstanding
education for the children of our District.

As an informed and engaged citizen, I understand the state of our state. I acknowledge that sacrifices
need to be made. I believe that shared sacrifice should be fair. Your proposals, along with an increase in
the state mandated costs for retirement to school districts, will result in drastic cuts in our district. This
will be the largest reduction in per pupil funding ever! This is not fair to the children of Michigan!

Our children deserve to have their public school education adequately funded. Slashing funding for K-12
education, at a time when our students need to compete nationally and globally is not the way to
reinvent Michigan.

I urge you to consider the following:

 preserving the School Aid Fund for K-12 funding

 allow all districts to pass enhancement millages, so we can help ourselves and not be victims of
poor state budgeting
 pass legislation to allow us to use sinking funds for technology investments and bus replacement
 reform Proposal A, so that we can have a stable and equitable funding source now and in the
future

Please, find other ways to balance the budget and to adequately fund our schools for the futures of our
children and of Michigan.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
