Will Smith

Will Smith likes to write about him being young father making decisions about what type

of parent he should be and if he will be a good father. A phrase that stands out to me is when he

says, “I knew I’d rather meet death before I’d let you meet harm.”(2) This adds that Will wants

to protect to his baby and will do anything to make that happen. It also is saying that he will even

die for this child.

Smith’s lyrics do have a rhyme scheme. The structure has some internal but has mainly

end rhymes. When Smith says, “Remember one fact, I got your back” (23) all of the rhyme takes

place on one line letting him begin a new rhyme on the next line.

Smith uses internal rhyme to help the reader recognize important phrases in the poem.

Smith does not include any type of distinction of syntax. He generally likes to jump in his

rhymes
