Web 2.0 Tool Comparison

The three tools that I chose to use were Twisty Noodle, Storybird, and Tikatok. I believe
that all three tools could be valuable and influential in a child’s first few years of school. Twisty
noodle is made up of practice writing worksheets and coloring worksheets. Storybird is a series
of animated picture books. Tikatok is an opportunity for a child to make his or her own story.

Twisty Noodle will give a young child a chance to match words with pictures that they
are not very familiar with. By matching the words with the objects, the students will have to
learn the correct way to write out lower case and upper case letters. As they color in their
picture it will also increase their sense of hand eye coordination. Twisty Noodle will overall
increase their vocabulary at a young age.

Storybird is quite similar to Twisty Noodle. However, Storybird will allow students to
properly sound out words while being able to match the picture with the words below.
Storybird will also give the students the chance to evaluate themselves as they read the
animated book.

Lastly, I chose Tikatok. Tikatok is a program that lets the students create their own story.
I truly think that keeping an open mind and expanding on it at such a young age is crucial for
the development of a student’s education.

My Class
If I am trying to teach my students to be more creative I would have to pull up Tikatok
online. I would have one student that I knew was very creative, come up to the front of the
class and make up a story. That would make my students get excited about making up their
own. After my student and I were done talking and giving examples about the stories you can
make up I would then have my class go to the computers and each one would make up a story.
After everyone was done they would share it with the class.

If my class needed some help with handwriting I would then use the web tool twisty
noodle. Most children at a young age don’t like to write. I would make twisty noodle look like a
ton of fun. I would let each child pick out a worksheet and print it off and then complete it.

If my class needs a little more help with reading I would go to the stoybird web site. This
makes reading a lot of fun. I would have my students get in a group of two and listen to each
other read. You can do it by yourself but so many times we try harder when we have an
audience

My chart shows in comparing twist noodle, storybird, and tikatok they all give a child a visual. In
my chart contrasting the three it is saying twisty noodle is different than tikatok because it’s not giving a
child a chance to be creative. In storybird it is giving a child a chance to work on sounding out words but
not letting a child practicing writing like twist noodle does. For tikatok the child is being very creative not
really working on grammar.
