Monthly Report

The Center for Academic Technology Support has a lot to brag about. They are, of course, keeping the more than

250 smart classrooms working. This equipment includes computers, projectors, smart boards, video players, and much

more, depending on the classroom. In addition, they are involved in the creation of new smart classrooms throughout

the campus. The Center also maintains and supports all of the videoconferencing classrooms on campus, along with

several computer labs. These labs are primarily used for training and media development. They are currently working

on a new initiative to bring Google Apps to all faculty and staff at GSU. The students already have this system and have

been using it for more than a year. Along with this roll out of the Google Apps for faculty and staff, training videos are

being produced and being updated for these applications. They are also in the process of producing television

commercials featuring Dr. Keel endorsing the university. They are also working on “Echo 360” which will allow

classroom lectures to be captured. In other words some classrooms will have the capability to record lectures for use in

distance learning or to allow students to view lectures at a later date. Finally they are working on “Blackboard Mobile” a

system that will allow mobile access to the course schedule, directory, and campus maps. This will allow students on

Georgia on My Line easy access to this information and to be able to register for class more easily.
