Communication Philosophy

Because students do not spend all of their time at school, it is important for those
who hope to educate them to find allies with those who surround them. Parents have
enormous influence on their children. They know what is happening in their students’ lives,
they know their strengths, their weaknesses, their motivations and their aspirations. I
believe that if the teacher can form an ally with the parents many potentially problematic
situations can be diffused before they escalate. I also think that open lines of
communication and cooperation between parents and teachers can help to motivate and
provide positive reinforcement in academics in general. Some strategies I plan to use
include:

 Postcards to parents
