REFLECTION

Last week we talked about the Social Interactionism. It based on

constructivism.According to the social interactionist children are born into a
social world and learning occurs through interaction with other people. Also
we learn a language through using the language in interacting and
communicating with other people to DO something.Because it had a
connection with constructivism, social interactionism focus on the socio-
cultural factors. Also similar to humanistic approaches, whole person
involvement in learning is very important issue.Individuals search for
personal meaning.

Lev Vygotsky and Reuven Feuerstein are the philosophier of the social
interactionism.According to Vygotsky's approach;language in interacting with
people does not mean only speech,it also contains signs and symbols.Culture
is transmitted, thinking develops and learning occurs. Also the "mediation
theory" is very important for Vygotsky and Feuerstein. It means that meaning
should constitute the central aspect of any unit.

Feuerstein lived an experience with the foundation of State of Israel after

Second World War.And he observed that some children who experienced
dreadful traumatic experiences which had severely impaired their ability to
learn. While others called these children as "retarded",he rejected this and
defended the idea of that every person can develop learning skills if they get
an education according to their psychology, ability, stage and the
enviromental factors. He emphasized the importance of unique and situated
learning.

Additionally, during learning process learnesr need to be given challenge

but it should be given in a reasonable way otherwise it can cause negative
effects for learning.

Lastly, what ı learned from last course will be useful for me in the

future.I can use the theories ı learned when ı am a teacher. Also i learned that
learning is a unity of social and individual factors.Interaction is an important
term for learning. Finally ı learned the meaning of "likid courage".THANKS:)
