Interpersonal relations: It is very important to have an

interpersonal relationship with other people. This unit helps
us to identify healthy relationships from negative
relationships and develop our communication skills.
 We also develop an understanding of ourselves within the structure of family,

peers and social groups.

 Personal health choices: As part of safe living we must make healthy decisions.
The choice of nutritional food and our understanding of health services and
how to take medicine helps us to make informed decisions to maintain safe
living. Also, the understanding of what a drug is and its effects on the human
body is important to make informed decisions on how to use drugs.

 Most importantly it is vital to understand and implement preventive measures

to risks.
Growth and Development:
 Our bodies continuously change. The bodies of babies are
very different to those of children. Children’s bodies in
turn are very different to the bodies of teenagers; and the
body of teens is different to that of an adult. Thus, it is
very important to know how our bodies develop. The
changes in both our bodies and socially are inevitable and
we must learn how to manage these changes effectively.

 as we grow many of us start asking “who am I?”.
