GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT RESIDENCE PERMIT TO FINLAND

Personal appearance of the applicant (customers are recommended to make an


appointment beforehand to facilitate a smooth visa process)
Valid passport
Residence Permit application form duly completed, dated and signed by the applicant.
Residence permit forms can be downloaded from website at http:// www.migri.fi the form
for student is OLE-OPI
Two recent photographs, size 47mm x 36mm (face size 32-36mm) with light background
Processing fee i.e. Rs. 30300 (non refundable) Please bring exact money

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

Confirmation of admission to a Finnish University/Polytechnic (study program taught in


English)
Proof of funds – Bank statement in applicant’s name and not less than Euro 6000/-
Proof of knowledge of English language – TOEFL or IELTS
Transcript of records, diplomas and other relevant certificates

All supporting documents must be in original form + 2 photocopies

As of 01.09.2007 students from third countries arriving in Finland for the purpose of study or
student exchange are required to have health insurance, if the study or student exchange
lasts for more than three months. Depending on the duration of the studies, if a student has
a study duration of 2 or more years then he/she has to show a insurance coverage of €
30,000/- and if the study duration is less than 2 years than he/she has to show a insurance
coverage of € 100,000/-.

Visa days are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10.00 am till 12.00 noon. It usually
takes a minimum of 8 weeks for the residence permit to be processed.

Note: Despite that all supporting documents are submitted by the applicant it does not in
itself grant a legal claim to an issuance of the student visa applied. Applicants are advised
to have completely filled in application forms ready when coming to submit their
application. (Incomplete documentation will not be accepted)
