“88th Student Senate accomplishes much upon adjournment.”

MARYVILLE, MO- Northwest Missouri State University 88th Student Senate had several

accomplishments in 2010-11. Senate allocated/donated $30,560 to student organizations/causes,

which is $16,560 more than the previous year.

Annual events like the civic service blood drive won several awards for highest number

of donations. The student fees committee led an educated discussion renewing the laptop

program, increasing internet speeds and instituting a safe-ride fee providing additional hours,

vehicles and employees.

Public relations efforts produced a winning banner at homecoming, increased social

media fans, general publicity for senate and a new logo. Governmental affairs turned a canceled

legislative reception into a new Student Senate scholarship. The scholarship secured by a

partnership between the Vice President of Finance Stacy Carrick and the 89th Student Senate

President Andrew Maddux will be endowed by July and deplete the senate’s fund.

The events planning committee put on a successful northwest week, homecoming week

and distributed final relief bags partnering with the Northwest J.D. Owens Library. The student

affairs committee partnered with the Office of Campus Activities and Student Employment, to

produce the first Northwest Awards and Recognition Ceremony.

The 89th Student Senate’s meetings starting fall are on Tuesdays at 7p.m. in the Union

Boardroom. The senate will be holding elections to fill vacant seats in September more

information will be released soon on details.
