The Netherlands is located in North-West Europe, bordering the North Sea to the north and west, Belgium
to the south, and Germany to the east, and shares maritime borders with Belgium, Germany and the
United Kingdom. Its industries are agroindustries, metal and engineering products, electrical machinery
and equipment, chemicals, petroleum, construction, microelectronics, and fishing. Exports commodities
include machinery and equipment, chemicals, fuels and foodstuffs. Export partners include Germany
25.54%, Belgium 12.49%, France 9.27%, UK 8.17%, Italy 5.07%, and the US 3.97% (2009). Import
commodities include machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, fuels, foodstuffs, and clothing.
Import partners include Germany 17.16%, China 11.58%, Belgium 8.68%, US 7.77%, UK 5.72%, Russia
4.47%, and France 4.4% (2009). The Netherlands' economy contracted 3.9% in 2009, while exports
