Unlike many lightweight automotive-type engines that are slightly "beefed up" for diesel operation, Case engines are designed, from the crankcase up, as a diesel, with all the additional strength and stamina this operation requires. They wring every ounce of power out of every drop of fuel ... start easily in any weather on diesel fuel.

Extra-heavy, ribbed block is internally reinforced at all stress points to reduce flexing, maintain proper alignment and balance of the crankshaft. More rigid block also means less internal friction, increased usable horsepower.
