Members of the working press are most cordially invited to attend Montana State Fair. Press badges are required; contact Kim Lander (406-727-8900) PRIOR TO JULY 15 for issuance. Presentation of verifying identification at gate will permit admission. All press must report to the Administration Office upon arrival.
CAMPING, PARKING, TRAFFIC

Campsite permits are issued with first choice to full week paid requests, and then on a first come basis to space available. Submit request with $50 deposit to: Montana State Fair/Campsite Request, 400 3rd St. NW, Great Falls, MT, 59404, or call 406-727-8900. These spaces are limited and need to be reserved well in advance. 1. a) Full Service Campground: $35/night with sewer, water & electrical hook-ups b) Partial Service Campground: $30/night, electrical hook-ups only c) No Service Campground: $25/night, selfcontained trailers with no hook-ups Stickers will be assigned to each parking type reserved. These stickers must be prominently displayed on trailer or motor home at all times. Trailers or motor homes without stickers are subject to towing. No unauthorized plug-ins or camper plug-ins to the barns or buildings are permitted. Campground spaces are 15x40. If more space is needed another spot must be rented. The towing vehicle is allowed parking on the designated camper space only. Parking of vehicles anywhere other than the assigned space is prohibited and violating vehicles will be towed at owners expense. All campground users must keep their space litter free and in a sanitary condition. Rowdiness, profanity or vandalism will not be tolerated. Fair management reserves the right to dismiss any offender immediately for reasons satisfactory to itself, without refund. All vehicles operated on the grounds must have an official permit unless parked in General Admission Parking. All vehicles must be operated safely, quietly, and obey all traffic and parking regulations. Speed limit for all vehicles on the grounds is 15 mph. Vehicles violating parking rules will be towed at owners expense. Drivers and/or vehicles committing moving violations are subject to fine and dismissal from the grounds. Small motor vehicles such as motorcycles, 3 or 4 wheelers, etc. are not allowed on the grounds without express written consent from Fair manager. Will at all times strictly obey all traffic regulations and be operated safely and quietly. Fair manager reserves the right to refuse or revoke this privilege to any or all such vehicles.
FACILITY POLICY
1. All exhibit buildings, barns and the Four Seasons Arena are SMOKE FREE. 2. NO DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED. 3. Under no circumstances will any person or firm be allowed to place any advertising matter upon buildings, trees, or any place on the grounds, nor will it be permitted to distribute any advertising or sell articles outside the space assigned. advertising, petition solicitors, subscription or sheet writers. 4. Compliments, complaints or recommendations: Management welcomes all to attend Montana State Fair and welcomes your comments. Visitors are requested to report any inhospitality expressed from an employee, exhibitor, vendor or concessionaire. Comments may be filed at the Administration Building and are best served if done promptly before the Fair ends. Your comments on events, displays and activities enable us to make positive changes and to improve Montana State Fair.
LIABILITY & INTERPRETATIONS

1. Montana State Fair, Cascade County, or employees, agents or board members thereof will assume no liability for injury, loss or damages sustained by person, property or livestock of any exhibitor, concessionaire or spectator. Every animal and article upon the grounds shall be under the control of Fair Management. Nor will the above-listed be responsible for the loss or damage of any article on route to or from the Fair; after or before it is at the Fair; nor will it be held responsible for the safe return of any exhibit to its owner, although due care and caution will be exercised to prevent all loss or damage. 2. Montana State Fair Management reserves the right to interpret all rules and regulations and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, arising out of and not covered by them. 3. Any person who violates any published rule in each department will forfeit all privileges and premiums and may be subject to penalty as ordered by the Montana State Fair Advisory Board. 4. In the event of conflict between General Rules and Department Rules & Regulations, the latter will govern, subject to interpretation by management.

EXHIBIT DEPARTMENT ENTRIES

General RulesStatic & Livestock
1. Livestock exhibitors will need to purchase admission passes. See Admissions section. Exhibitors in static departments may purchase admission passes if desired. 2. Exhibitor parking areas will be provided. Parking of vehicles, trailers, and campers to be in the respective designated areas only. See rules in CAMPING, PARKING, TRAFFIC section. No unauthorized plug-ins or camper plug-ins to the barns is permitted. Permits are required. Purchase permits at the Administration Office. 3. All applications for entries will be made on appropriate entry forms. Entry forms can be downloaded at the website: montanastatefair.com. Request additional forms by phone at 406-727-8900 or at the Administration Office. No entries will be accepted by phone. Entries will not be considered complete until all applicable fees have been paid. 4. Consult Department schedules for entry form deadlines. Pre-entry will facilitate exhibition and is required in most static and ALL LIVESTOCK departments. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of management on a case by case basis. Late fees may be imposed. 5. Any entry, which may have been inadvertently or erroneously entered in the wrong class or division, may at the discretion of the Department Superintendent or Judge be transferred to the appropriate class prior to judging. 6. Where there is no listed classification for an entry, an article may be entered for display purposes only. However, no premium will be paid to articles so marked. 7. Management reserves the right to reject unworthy entries of any nature by refusing them exhibit space. 8. Any entry offered or exposed for sale during the Fair must be entered and exhibited in its respective class. 9. Should an individual enter either an animal or article in the name other than that of the bonafide owner, or attempt to perpetrate a fraud by misrepresentation of any fact, the entry thus made must be removed from exhibition and all fees paid will be forfeited. 10. Exhibitors will cooperate at all times to conduct the best possible Fair. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and the offending exhibitor will forfeit all fees paid or premiums due and may be immediately dismissed from the grounds.

11. Articles to be exhibited may be mailed to the Administration Office. Entry forms must be completely filled out and enclosed with the article. All transportation charges must be pre-paid; otherwise, the exhibit will be refused. If articles are to be returned by parcel post or UPS, include complete instructions and stamps, cash or check made payable to Montana State Fair to cover all costs of transportation and insurance as requested. A statement as to the value of the articles packaged will be helpful. 12. Montana State Fair offers special contests. Participants must comply with specific rules stated per contest. Judging (all departments) 1. Every effort is expended to provide competent judges. No exhibitor or spectator will be allowed to interfere with a judge in the performance of his/her duties. 2. Exhibitors must arrange for the prompt showing of all exhibits at the call of the judge. At the judges discretion, any exhibitor not present promptly when called may be disqualified. 3. Judges should not award a prize to an unworthy exhibit. Premiums may not be awarded to undeserving exhibits whether there is competition or not. 4. Objection to any person serving as a judge must be submitted to Fair Management in writing prior to his making an award; giving good and sufficient reason therefore, and upon which Management shall have the full power to act. See Protests. 5. The decision of the judge shall be final and no appeal will be considered except in cases of formal protest. Protests (all departments) All formal protests must be submitted in writing, be signed, and be accompanied by $50 cash or certified check (refundable if protest is sustained). The protest must plainly state the cause of the complaint or appeal and must be delivered to the Superintendent immediately after the occasion for the protest. A protest pertaining to eligibility is most suitable when submitted prior to judging. Judging procedures will not be interrupted for protest investigation. Depending on the basis of the protest, interested parties may be notified and given the opportunity to submit evidence. A decision may be withheld until a complete
investigation can be made. No complaint or appeal that a judge overlooked an entry will be considered. Premiums (all departments) 1. All entrants must complete a W9 form at time of entry to receive premiums. 2. Premium checks for most departments will be available during the Fair at the State Fair Bank located on the Midway. Please check with the Superintendent of the individual departments on dates of availability. Premium checks not presented for payment within 90 days from date of issuance will be canceled from payment. 3. Fair Management does not guarantee the payment of Special Premiums offered in the premium list by merchants and/or private parties. These special prizes are secured by Fair Management with a promissory note signed by the donor and are accepted by Management in good faith and must be contested for under these conditions. 4. No animal shall compete for or receive more than one premium except in champion classes, group classes or performance classes. 5. Where there is but one exhibitor with more than one entry in a single class, premiums will be paid to first place only. Refund Policy (all departments) 1. Classes canceled by Fair Management will be refunded. 2. Should an exhibitor need to cancel, fees may be refunded if: a. The exhibitor notified Management of the need to cancel at least 48 hours before the exhibit is to be in place or stalled. b. The exhibitor provides a signed medical or veterinary excuse within 10 days of the Fair. 3. Refunds will be determined by Management, on a case by case basis, after reviewing appropriate documentation. 4. Refunds for overpayment of fees will be made as expediently as possible after the Fair. No refunds will be made for amounts of $5 or less.
SUPERINTENDENTS
Job Description Pre-Fair: 1. Each superintendent will have charge of the department assigned, subject to the direction of the General Manager. Superintendents shall meet with the General Manager when requested to do so.

2. Each superintendent will edit and revise their department for the Exhibitors Handbook and submit these revisions to Montana State Fair by January 15 of fair year. 3. Each Superintendent will submit ribbon and trophy requests, supply office requests and supply work requests involving Maintenance by deadlines listed at the Superintendent meetings. Job Description During Fair: 4. Superintendents will have charge of stall or display spaces within that department. Exhibit display and arrangement of stalls and spaces may be done only with consent and supervision of Superintendent. 5. Superintendent is responsible for setting schedules within the department for employees and volunteers greeting the public and protecting the exhibits. 6. Superintendent and their staff will organize exhibits for judging. 7. It shall be the duty of each superintendent to inform judges of regulations governing awards, urging them to carefully read prior to judging. 8. It is the responsibility of the Superintendent to ensure that judge worksheets are accurate and
contain all required information. Completed worksheets must be signed by judge and Superintendent (or designee) during or immediately after judging. 9. Original judge worksheets must be returned to the Entry Office ASAP following judging. 10. It is understood that Superintendents may not submit entries to the department which they lead. Job Description Post-Fair 11. Superintendents will return unused supplies and their ribbon inventories to the Entry Office. 12. Superintendents will oversee the removal of exhibits that were not picked up from their Department to the Entry Office. Every effort should be made to contact the exhibitors involved for them to pick up their items. 13. Every Superintendent shall submit a written statement of their work, including budget considerations, physical improvements, and recommendations for the betterment of the Department and the Fair

Livestock Information
LIVESTOCK ENTRY RULES 1. Open Class Livestock Department entries are open to the world. 2. All livestock entries entered and exhibited at the State Fair shall be subject to being inspected of health condition before being stalled. All animals found inferior must be removed from the grounds immediately. 3. In all cases where registration is required, each exhibitor shall furnish the registration number and name under which animal is registered on the entry form. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. 4. In all cases where registration is required, all animals exhibited must be registered on the records of the various breed associations of classes listed herein. Partnership owned animals must be entered in the name of the owner appearing on the herd books of registry. Original registration or Photostat copies must accompany livestock and be available for presentation upon request of Management. 5. Animals shown in all group classes must have entered and shown in their respective individual classes. 6. Any breed of livestock having less than 3 independent exhibitors, or 20 head exhibited in the 2010 Montana State Fair may not have individual divisions listed in the 2011 Exhibitors Handbook. 7. Exhibitors will be required to keep their stalls, pens and alleys in a clean and attractive condition. Bedding and litter shall be disposed of in designated areas. First bedding will be provided by Montana State Fair. Additional or replacement bedding to be furnished by exhibitor and be of type (straw, shavings, sand) specified by Fair Management. Supplies from vendors will be available. See Livestock Bedding section. 8. Schedules for feeding, deliveries, exercising and tie out will be established and strictly enforced to minimize traffic congestion. 9. Livestock entered for competition at other state fairs may secure special release from Montana State Fair only when other state fair dates conflict with travel time. In this case, exhibitor must secure written approval from the Superintendent in charge of the livestock. No premiums will be paid on animal specially released until proof of entry in
another fair has been furnished to the General Manager of Montana State Fair. 10. Veterinarian on call: Craig Moore DVM will be on call throughout the duration of Montana State Fair. Those seeking services should call 406-899-7387 LIVESTOCK BEDDING AND FEED Any exceptions to the following list must be approved in advance by Fair Management. Bedding to be used at Montana State Fair is the following: Beef Cattlesand or shavings Dairy Goatsstraw Equinesshavings Sheepstraw/shavings Swineshavings All feedstuffs and bedding brought onto the grounds must comply with all Montana weed and pest regulations. Feedstuffs or bedding identified as bearing noxious weeds will be confiscated and immediately removed from the grounds. Violations may restrict exhibitors from bringing feedstuffs to future fairs. MONTANA STATE FAIR AND DEPARTMENT OF LIVESTOCK HEALTH, BRAND AND IMPORT REGULATIONS General Requirements 1. All imported animals presented for exhibition or sale shall be accompanied by an import permit, certificate of veterinary inspection and brand inspections. Import permits may be obtained by the veterinarian issuing the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within 10 days prior to arrival into Montana by calling the Department of Livestock, Animal Health Division, Helena, MT, at 406-4442976. 2. A brand inspection is required on all cattle, horses, and sheep shipments originating outside of Cascade County. Department of Livestock Inspectors will check all consignments upon arrival at Montana State Fair for compliance of Montana Animal Health Import and Brand Laws. 3. Inspection will be made of all animals upon arrival. Any animals showing evidence of disease, affected with warts, ringworm or other skin conditions or unsightly blemishes will be refused entry or required to be handled in accordance with directives of the veterinarian in charge. Animals which develop a disease condition during the course of the exposition are to be handled in

accordance with the directive of the attending veterinarian. 4. All cattle, sheep, swine and goats will need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 20 days of exhibit. Certificate must accompany the animal upon arrival on the grounds and be available for examination for the duration of the exhibit. 5. ALL sheep and goats entered in the Fair must have an official scrapie ID tag. Cattle-See General Requirements 1. All out-of-state cattle shall be accompanied by an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection obtained from your local accredited veterinarian within 20 days prior to the show. 2. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall show compliance with the following requirements in addition to the statement of general health: a. All female cattle 4 months of age or older must be official Brucellosis vaccinated with legible tattoo. b. TB test (negative) required within 60 days of importation into Montana for sexually intact cattle two months of age and older OR animals must originate from an accredited TB-free herd; EXCEPT no test required on animals less than six months of age if accompanied by TB testnegative dams from the following Modified Accredited Advanced states or areas (Canada, portions of Michigan, and Minnesota). c. TB test (negative) required for sexually intact cattle two months of age and older originating from Modified Accredited Zones (portions of Michigan)originate from a herd that has been TB tested in its entirety within the last 12 months AND a negative TB test within 60 days of import OR originate from an accredited TBfree herd AND negative TB test within 60 days of import OR two negative TB tests 60-120 days apart, the second test being within 60 days of import. d. TB-Dairy Cattle: All sexually intact dairy cattle, 2 months of age and older, are required to have a current TB test, regardless of the TB status of the state of origin. Test must be current within 60 days prior to entry. No test is required from Accredited herds originating from Accredited free or Modified Accredited Advanced zones. Dairy cattle from Modified Accredited Zones must meet the rest requirements as stated above in 2.c.
e. TB-Rodeo Cattle (Sporting Bovine): All cattle originating from or destined to a sporting event (rodeo including but not limited to bucking bulls, roping calves, and team roping/steer wrestling cattle, team penning, etc.) regardless of age or the TB status of the state of origin, are required to have a current TB test within 6 months prior to entry. f. Statement on the Certificate of Veterinary InspectionAll animals in this shipment are not M-Brand (Mexico origin) nor have they been in contact with or exposed to M-Branded cattle. g. TB test (negative) required within 60 days prior to importation into Montana for all M-Branded, Mx-Branded, or other cattle originally from Mexico. Those in the US over 60 days, 1 test within 60 days; those more recent must have 2 test before entry. Test must be performed by a USDA-APHIS-VS Accredited Veterinarian. h. TB test (negative) required within 60 days prior to importation into Montana for all cattle in contact with or exposed to M-Branded, MxBranded, or other cattle originally from Mexico. Test must be performed by a USDA-APHIS-VS Accredited Veterinarian. i. All Bulls imported into Montana require a virgin statement from the owner for those less than 25 months old or negative Trichomoniasis testing (3 weekly tests or 1 PCR test) within 90 days of entry or immediately upon commingling with female cattle. A virgin bull statement is not acceptable for animals 25 months of age or olderthese must be tested. There are test exemptions available for animals entering for show onlythe exemption must be requested prior to the import permit being issued and additional statements are required on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. j. All Montana bulls for change of ownership, loan, or lease must have a virgin statement from the owner for those less than 25 months old or negative Trichomoniasis testing (3 weekly tests or 1 PCR test). A virgin bull statement is not acceptable for animals 25 months of age or olderthese must be tested. Montana bulls for exhibition only do not require testing. Goats-See General Requirements 1. All out-of-state goats shall be accompanied by an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection

obtained from your local accredited veterinarian within 20 days prior to the show, certifying freed from disease, or exposure thereto. 2. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall show compliance with the following requirements in addition to the statement of general health: a. All goats must have official scrapie ID tag to enter the fair and Statements needed on Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) one by issuing vet: The animals in this shipment were not exhibiting clinical signs associated with scrapie at the time of the exam.; and one by the shipper: Animals are not a scrapie positive suspect, high risk, or exposed animal and did not originate from a scrapie-infected source, exposed or noncompliant flock. b. BRUCELLOSIS: All sexually intact imported goats 6 months of age or older must have a current negative test for Brucellosis within 30 days prior to entry into Montana. c. TUBERCULOSIS: 1. TB test (negative) required within 60 days prior to importation into Montana for all dairy goats ages 2 months and older and those originating from Modified Accredited Advanced States or areas (Canada, portions of Michigan and Minnesota). TB test not required if goats originating directly from USDA-APHIS-VS Accredited TB-free herd. The herd accreditation number and date of the entire herd test must be included on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 2. Negative TB test required for sexually intact animals two months of age and older coming from Modified Accredited States or zones (portions of Michigan) and must originate from a herd that has been TB tested in its entirety within the last 12 months and a negative TB test within 60 days of import or originate from an accredited TB-free herd and negative TB test within 60 days or import or two negative TB tests 60-120 days apart, the second test being within 60 days of import. Animals less than 2 months of age will be quarantined and tested between 2-4 months of age. Horses-See General Requirements 1. All out-of-state horses shall be accompanied by an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection obtained
from your local accredited veterinarian within 20 days prior to the show. 2. All horses are required to have negative test for Equine Infections Anemia (EIA) within the last 12 months. Valid test can be AGID (Coggins) or Elisa. There are no further special requirements for horses other than statement of general health certifying freedom from disease or exposure thereto. 3. All horses coming from outside the boundaries of Cascade County must have a brand inspection. 4. For stallions that are known carriers (shedders) of EVA in semen, the State Veterinarian must be officially notified prior to importation. For stallions testing positive on a serum diagnostic test for EVA with no certified proof of prior vaccination against the disease must fax a copy of the lab report confirming the absence of EVA in its semen to the State Veterinarian office prior to a permit for import being issued. Sheep-See General Requirements 1. All out-of-state sheep shall be accompanied by an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection obtained from your local accredited veterinarian within 20 days prior to the show, certifying freedom from disease, including lice, or exposure thereto (except market lambs for slaughter). 2. All sheep must have official scrapie ID tags to enter the fair. 3. All sheep must show a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection that shall show compliance with the following requirements: a. BRUCELLA OVIS (REO) 1. All breeding rams must have a negative ELISA, or other recognized test for Brucella Ovis within 30 days prior to entry into Montana or originate directly from an officially recognized Brucella Ovis free flock. Individual identification by ear tag or tattoo is required, along with date of the last Brucella Ovis herd test. All rams must be free of any gross lesions of ram epididymitis upon examination by the certifying accredited veterinarian. 2. If tested rams are destined for an official Montana free flock they will be held separate and apart from other sheep at destination and officially retested for Brucella Ovis 45 days after arrival. 3. Testing begins at 6 months.

b. LICE (Damalinia ovis) 1. Sheep found to be infested with sheep lice are subject to quaran-tine in Montana, including exhibition and sale animals. Sheep will be inspected at grounds and any found with lice will not be allowed to be stalled on the grounds. c. SCRAPIES 1. Statements needed on Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI)one by issuing vet: The animals in this shipment were not exhibiting clinical signs associated with scrapie at the time of the exam.; and one by the shipper: Animals are not a scrapie positive suspect, high risk, or exposed animal and did not originate from a scrapieinfected, source, exposed or noncom-pliant flock. All participants at Montana State Fair events are responsible for reading the General Information and Livestock Information sections of this handbook and complying with policies listed therein. b. AGREEMENT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS HEREIN STATED IS UNDERSTOOD WHEN THE EXHIBITOR SUBMITS THE ENTRY FORM. c. All entrants must complete a W9 Form at time of entry to receive premiums. d. classes. Premiums will be paid for group classes provided there is competition. Champion exhibitors may be required to make publicity appearances. Cooperation is expected. All cattle will be health and brand inspected. Cattle will be stalled in the Livestock Pavilion on sand or shavings. First bedding will be provided. Hay and bedding will be available for purchase. Straw will only be allowed in the tie-out area. Tieouts will be cleaned by 10:30 am. All cattle are required to be stalled in the Livestock Pavilion from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm each day until released. Tie outs are located on the west side of the Livestock Pavilion. No additional fees are charged for fitting chutes or tie outs, but this privilege is allowed in designated areas only. Blocking & grooming chutes will not be allowed in the alleys. All cattle must be halter broke and manageable. Neck ropes are required on all tied cattle. Nose rings are required to be used on bulls, except suckling bull calves. Show numbers will be assigned per head and exhibitors are required to wear the assigned number at all times the individual animal is being judged. Exhibitors are requested to call the State Fair Entry Office for information pertinent to their exhibit. All animals must be registered on the records of the various breed associations of classes listed herein. Partnership owned animals must be entered in the name of the owner appearing on the herd books of registry. Original registration papers must be provided. Legible tattoos are required. Applicable Breed Association Rules and Regulations shall govern if not addresses herein. Mothers of unweaned 2011 calves entered in registered classes will be allowed in the barn even if the cow is not entered, space permitting. Write pen or stall needed for nurse cow on entry form. All applicable rules of the respective Breed Associations will be enforced. As with all shows and events at the Montana State Fair, any person or group is encouraged to offer constructive suggestions and/or to give recommendations to best conduct these shows and events in the most useful manner to benefit the beef cattle industry. State Fair management reserves the right to interpret all rules and arbitrarily settle all differences and questions not adequately addressed.

ATTENTION!! All cattle will need a Veterinary Health Inspection Certificate issued within 20 days of exhibit. Certificate must accompany the animal upon arrival on the grounds and be available for examination for the duration of the exhibit. SHOW DEFINITIONS: OPEN BREED SHOWS: Separate breed shows are offered for Angus and Shorthorn breeds. If less than 20 head and three separate exhibitors per open breed are shown in 2011, that breed may not be offered at the 2012 State Fair. ANY OTHER BREED SHOWS: Separate shows will be added for any recognized breed when a minimum of 20 head are entered by three or more independent exhibitors. DIVISION 1: OPEN ANGUS BREED SHOW REGULATIONS: 1. For the American Angus Association to participate in premium payments, 50 head will need to be shown. 2. All animals must be registered in the herd book of the American Angus Association. The registration certificate issue date must be prior to the show. 3. The skin color of all animals must be BLACK, except those animals having birthmarks or white hairs on black skin. Animals red in color, or with white skin above the underline, in front of the navel or on a leg or foot, are not eligible to show. 4. All animals must be polled (free of horns or scurs). Scurs are defined as any portion of horny tissue attached to the skin of the horn set of a polled animal. Any product administered internally used externally to alter the conformation and/or appearance of an animal for exhibition is prohibited. This includes the covering of white skin,

false tail heads (or use of any false hair), use of graphite, powders, hemp or other similar substances externally and steroids, growth stimulants or artificial filling internally. Any animal found to be in violation will be barred from showing, with exception of false tail switches. All animals must have a legible ear tattoo for identification. The tattoo must correspond with the tattoo number on the official registration certificate. Once disqualified due to incorrect or illegible tattoo, animals cannot be re-tattooed and rechecked at the show. Exhibitors must have the original registration certificate on each animal available for inspection at the show. All animals must be shown within the official standard show classification of the American Angus Association. Only one person at a time shall lead animals into the show ring. For an exhibitor to be eligible at shows for premium money contributed by the American Angus Association, each exhibitor is subject to Part 3, Section IX of the Associations rules entitled Eligibility, Conformation and Structure of Animals Presented for Exhibition. Any female shown with calf at side, the calf must be her natural calf and registered. DNA marker or blood type for parentage verification--under the Association Rules each animal for which entry application (registration) is received may be subjected to a DNA marker type or blood type test to verify ACCURACY OF PARENTAGE as covered under Association Rules. Staff of the American Angus Association must supervise the collection of DNA or blood samples. Animals are often sampled at shows, fairs or events where the American Angus Association contributes premiums or where Association personnel participate. If a recorded parent is excluded (as a parent) as a result of DNA or blood type, the owner may request, at his own expense, the Association to determine the actual parent. Failure to determine the sire and dam disqualifies the animals eligibility in the Angus herd book, and the registration certificate becomes null and void. FEES CHARGED ARE AS FOLLOWS: $9 per head entry fee. List number of pens needed on entry (pens are approximately 8x4 feet); no pen fees. Exhibitors arriving at Montana State Fair are assured clean pens. Pen assignments will be done by Montana State Fair and posted in the barn. 20 animals per breed are required for a show. If sufficient entries are not received the particular division may be held for ribbons only. If 20 head are not exhibited in any given breed show there may be no separate listing for that breed the following year in the premium book. 20 HEAD ARE REQUIRED FOR THE 2011 SHOWS. There is no limit to the number an exhibitor may enter per class. If competition is from only one exhibitor, premiums paid on the first two places only. ONE EXHIBITOR IS DEFINED AS ONE FAMILY AND/OR ONE BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP. All champions must be present for Best of Show. All animals show in group or challenge classes must stay within their regular divisions, with the exception of ADGA champions. Animals will be released early at the discretion of the superintendent with prior arrangements. Health requirements: All animals must be free of all communicable diseases and active abscesses. Superintendent reserves the right to ask for the removal of any animals exhibiting signs of disease or infection. In case of dispute a veterinarian may be called at the exhibitors expense. All goats must have an official scrapies ID.

All animals will be health and brand inspected BEFORE being allowed in the barn. Animals will be stalled in the Livestock Pavilion on bedding provided by Montana State Fair. No additional fees are charged for fitting chutes or tie outs, but this privilege is allowed in designated areas only. Blocking & grooming chutes will not be allowed in the alleys. No floor standing fans will be permitted in the aisles and alleys. Fans may be hung from exhibitor provided frames but electrical service is limited. Show numbers will be assigned per head and exhibitors are required to wear the assigned number at all times the individual animal is being judged. Exhibitors are requested to call the State Fair Entry Office for information pertinent to their exhibit. All market lamb and hog exhibitors must be bona fide Montana 4-H or FFA members. Market Steer exhibitors must be a Montana 4-H, FFA or a nationally recognized junior beef breed association member. Youth ages 9-19 as of January 1, 2011 are eligible to enter market animals. Heifer exhibitors need to be a junior breed association, 4-H or FFA member but can be out of state residents. Junior breed association members in good standing less than 21 years of age as of January 1, 2011, may enter heifer classes. There is no limit on the number of animals an exhibitor may enter and show. Market animals will be ranked based on visual evaluation of market-ready quality. Show is non-terminal. However, Champions and Reserve Champions must sell. No sale or floor price purchase is available. Any private-treaty sale must not be finalized prior to selection of champion animals. Exhibitors MAY sell one head per exhibitor.

General Rules
All participants at Montana State Fair events are responsible for reading the General Information and Livestock Information sections of this handbook and complying with policies listed therein. AGREEMENT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS HEREIN STATED IS UNDERSTOOD WHEN THE EXHIBITOR SUBMITS THE ENTRY FORM. All entrants must complete a W9 form at time of entry to receive premiums. No entry will be considered complete unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fees. NO entry shall be entitled to stable space nor admitted to the show ring until entry and stall fees are paid. FEES LISTED MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRY FORMS. All livestock exhibitors MUST purchase admittance tickets. A $25 exhibitor pass includes 10 adult admissions and/or a vehicle. Exhibitors 6-18 years may purchase a $20 exhibitors pass that includes 10 admissionsno vehicle. State Fair will provide one additional exhibitors pass for each $50 of entry fees. Please state if the extra tickets are needed. Use the designated entry form to enter miniature horse show(s). Additional entry forms are available at the State Fair Administration Office or by calling 406-727-8900. Department superintendents and management, Montana State Fair Management, Cascade County and agents or employees thereof will assume no liability for injury, loss or damage sustained by person, property or livestock at this show, be they exhibitors, visitors, guests or spectators. All precautions will be exercised for the safety and well being of the same. IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL, exhibitors or individuals should report for assignment of stalls. Space will be assigned in the order that entries are received. No horses or equipment to be at the fairgrounds before Wednesday, August 3, without prior approval. Tack stalls will be given if possible. Decorations are encouraged for stall and tack areas. Stabling provided for exhibited horses only. NO entry shall be entitled to stable space nor admitted to the show ring until entry and stall fees are paid. No animals will be released before the stated check out time except out of state and Canadian entries. Out of state and Canadian animals will be released at the discretion of the superintendent. arrangements MUST be made with the superintendent for all early releases. Stall and exhibition spaces MUST be cleaned before 10 am each day of the Fair. Aisles must be kept free. Please do not block aisles with chairs, equipment, etc. Registration papers must be available for steward and show management. In order to qualify for judging, each contestant must appear in the ring wearing correct number, plainly visible. Show management reserves the right to reject any entry at any time for disrespect to the rules, intoxication, rough treatment of animals, or any other reason he deems reasonable. Evidence of any cruelty, abuse or inhumane treatment to a horse in or out of the ring will not be tolerated by the Show Management and shall result in disqualification of the horse and the exhibitor for the balance of the show. The offender will be barred from the show area for the duration of the show. The result shall be the forfeiture of all awards and points for the show. The show manager will notify ASPC/AMHR of any such disqualification when the show results are reported. Should any question or dispute arise not provided for in the AMHR/ASPC rule books or rules herein, same shall be referred to the show manager. She/He will make a decision at that time or deem it necessary to call together the show committee for a ruling. All exhibitors should familiarize themselves with the official rule book of the AMHR/ASPC. Anyone may show his horse except the judge, judges family members or animals the judge has in training or just completed training, or superintendent of the mini horse department. Horses will be stabled in the Pony Barn. There are limited stalls, so first come, first served. There are inside and outside stalls (covered). Shavings will be provided. Wash racks are available. Show ring is outside on grass; show runs rain or shine. Youth is an exhibitor age 18 and under. Two Minute Gate Rule: Once a class is called, the gate steward will begin timing for all entries to enter. There will be no refund for missed classes. It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure a class is not missed. Any exhibitor who fails to show an entry will forfeit that entry fee.
v. Gate-holds must be given to the gate steward four classes prior and must be in writing. Gate-holds will be for a maximum of two minutes for in hand classes and five minutes for harness/cart changes. w. Amateur must possess and show Amateur card. Card may be purchased at show.

AGREEMENT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS HEREIN STATED IS UNDERSTOOD WHEN THE EXHIBITOR SUBMITS THE ENTRY FORM. All entrants must complete a W9 form at time of entry to receive premiums. No entry will be considered complete unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fees. Late entries are subject to double entry fees on a space available basis. All exhibitors MUST purchase admittance tickets. A $25 exhibitor pass includes 10 adult admissions and/or a vehicle. Exhibitors 6-18 years may purchase a $20 exhibitors pass that includes 10 admissionsno vehicle. State Fair will provide one additional exhibitors pass for each $50 of entry fees. Use the attached entry form to enter pigeon divisions. Additional entry forms are available online at www.montanastatefair.com or at the State Fair Administration Office. Entry forms and fees may be mailed or delivered to the State Fair Administration Office, open weekdays from 8 am-5 pm. Mailed entry forms and fees should be sent to: Entry Office, Montana State Fair, 400 3rd St NW, Great Falls, MT 59404. One exhibitor per entry form. All entries must be made in the name of the actual owner of the bird. Each entry must be completed in full. Include the class code. Leg band number MUST be listed for each individual bird. All possible care will be exercised by State Fair in handling exhibits, but no responsibility for loss or damage in transit or during any phase of the exhibit will be assumed by State Fair.

k. All exhibits must be examined by the superintendent before being allowed in the exhibition building. l. Any animal showing symptoms of disease shall be removed from the building at once and cared for by the proper authorities. A representative from the Montana State Livestock Sanitary Board will be in the building most of the week and will help examine exhibits upon arrival. m. Requirements of the State Livestock Sanitary Board as outlined in Chapter 12, Paragraph 1207, of the state regulations governing poultry shows will apply in this department. n. All exhibits will be cooped under the superintendents supervision and no exhibit may be removed from cages or handled in any manner by an unauthorized person except by special permission of the Superintendent. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO. o. All entries will be fed and cared for by the superintendent and staff.
2. Birds will initially be entered into classes by breed division and sex. BE SURE TO LIST THE COLOR VARIETY ON THE ENTRY FORM. 3. When three or more entries are received of like category, division and variety, a new class number will be assigned and entries will be judged as a separate class. 4. Division classes with less than three entries will be combined into Category or Any Other Breed Classes to provide competition. 5. Substitutions will be allowed only if replacement bird is the same breed, variety, age and sex as previous entry. 6. Entries will be limited to cage space on a first come, first served basis. 7. All birds must be single banded. Young birds must have seamless bands, dated with current year and old birds must have a seamless band dated 2011 or before. 8. Presentation of the entry blank shall be deemed acceptance of all rules governing this show. h. All possible care will be exercised by State Fair in handling exhibits, but no responsibility for loss or damage in transit or during any phase of the exhibit will be assumed by State Fair. i. IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL, exhibitors or individuals should report for assignment of stalls. Space will be assigned in the order that entries are received. No ponies or equipment to be at the fairgrounds prior to July 30th without prior approval. Tack stalls will be given if possible. Decorations are encouraged for stall and tack areas. j. Stabling provided for exhibited ponies only. A $10 stall fee will be assessed, with $5 refundable at the end of the show when stalls are cleaned. NO entry shall be entitled to stable space nor admitted to the show ring until entry and stall fees are paid. FEES LISTED MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRY FORMS. k. Any class with less than four entries may be scratched, combined or changed at managers discretion. l. No animals will be released before the stated check out time except out of state and Canadian entries. Out of state and Canadian animals will be released at the discretion of the superintendent. Prior arrangements MUST be made with the superintendent for all early releases. m. Stall and exhibition spaces MUST be cleaned before 10 am each day of the Fair. Aisles must be kept free. Please do not block aisles with chairs, equipment, etc. n. Registration papers must be available for steward and show management. o. In order to qualify for judging, each contestant must appear in the ring wearing correct number, plainly visible. p. Show management reserves the right to reject any entry at any time for disrespect to the rules, intoxication, rough treatment of animals, or any other reason he deems reasonable. q. Should any question or dispute arise not provided for in the American Shetland Pony Club or the USEF rule books or rules herein, same shall be referred to the show manager. He will make a decision at that time or deem it necessary to call together the show committee for a ruling. r. Official rule books may be obtained from the governing body of the American Shetland Pony Club. s. Anyone may show his pony or horse except the judge, judges family members or animals the judge has in training or just completed training.

Day entries will be accepted from participants that cannot attend the entire show. Day entries will pay double entry fees and must notify the superintendent they are coming 24 hours in advance of the show day. Day entries have the option to make pre-arrangements to take advantage of the admissions offered under rule d of this department or must pay gate admission fees. If day entries do not have a pony measurement card, entry must arrive on the grounds a minimum of two hours before the scheduled show start so that the pony may be measured. u. Show arena is grass.

REGULATIONS: 18. Ponies to be shown by American Shetland Club rules. 19. Ponies should be neatly trimmed, well groomed, braided with one braid in the foretop and one immediately back of the bridle path and attractively presented in the show ring. 20. Show halter or bridle is mandatory equipment used for all entries. All appliances, including false tails, are prohibited. For stallions 2 years and older, tack is optional equipment. 21. All classes offered will be required to work on the rail, both ways, at walk and trot. A handler and attendant are permitted per pony shown. 22. Grade ponies used in childrens classes may only enter appropriate childrens halter classes 115-118 or classes 110-113. Registered ponies used in childrens classes may enter classes 115-118 OR they may compete in appropriate class 103-106. NO CROSS ENTRIES. Note: It is recommended that ponies used in childrens classes show in the childrens halter classes provided, unless stable is actively breeding and promoting their breeding program for commercial purposes. 23. Single Harness: Qualifying class for Single Stake. To be driven to a viceroy, side bar buggy or fourwheeled vehicle of similar type. Harness to be show type including round blinkers, side check and choice of bit. Boots, bands or strings of any description on fee or legs, as well as martingales, are prohibited. Ponies are to enter to the right and shall be worked both ways of ring at Park Pace and Show your Pony. Ponies will line up and then be required to individually jump two fences set at 18 and return to line up. Judges on riders hands, seat and control of pony and ponys way of going. Class 309 & 310-Hunter Pony, Child 14 years old and under: HELMET REQUIRED. There will be a minimum of four jumps with a maximum fence height of 18 and no spread jumps. Course may be done at a trot. Judged on riders hands, seat and control of pony and ponys way of going. Class 311 & 312-Jumper Pony, Child 14 years old and under: HELMET REQUIRED. There will be a minimum of six jumps with a maximum height of two feet, with a maximum spread of two feet. Jump pattern will be posted in the barn. Will be judged using USEF rules, Table 1.
12. Class 313-Children Pairs Class, Child 14 years old and under: Open to all childrens ponies. Class conducted as a pleasure class that will include a walk, trot and lope both ways of the ring. English or Western attire acceptable, but same attire must be worn by team pair. Class may be run as individual teams or as full or divided class at judges discretion. 13. Class 314-Lead Line Equitation, Child 6 years old and under: Open to all childrens ponies. To be judged 80% on riders hands, seat and ability to guide, handle and aid pony at a walk both ways of ring, and to halt and stand quietly. 10% appointment and 10% on handlers ability to not interfere with riders efforts. 14. DIVISION 4-6: CHILDRENS CLASSES

REGULATIONS:
1. For show purposes, childs age on December 1 of prior year shall be maintained for the current show year. 2. American Shetland Pony Club and USEF rules will prevail.

3. NO STALLIONS allowed in Childrens Classes or to be handled by children 14 years and under in any class. 4. FOR SAFETY REASONS IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL CHILDREN PARTICIPATING WEAR HELMETS DURING ALL CLASSES AND PRACTICE SESSIONS. For classes stating that helmets are required a helmet will be provided. If child is not wearing a helmet they must be wearing the appropriate headwear for classes entered. For example: cowboy hat for western attire. USEF ruleno contestant using protective headgear will be penalized as long as rest of appropriate dress code is adhered to. 5. In ALL TIMED CLASSES (races) headgear, be it helmet or hat, must be on when contestant passes the starting line or he/she will be disqualified. 6. Show dress should be appropriate to class entered. Western riders should have long sleeve shirts, hat and long pants. Chaps are optional. English riders should have jacket, stock, breeches and helmet. Proper attire and equipment are part of the showing experience. Neither equipment or attire has to be fancy but it should project an image of good grooming and cleanliness. 7. Children are required to enter ring with their ponys show number either attached to both sides of ponys saddle blanket or on their back. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. 8. Children 8 and underponies entered in Division 6 may cross enter in Division 4 or 5 respectively. 9. Childrens Classes ponies can be registered or grade. Any pony used in Childrens Classes may not be cross entered in Division 2 Harness Classes unless specifically stated in class description. 10. Senior ponies, five years and over, must compete in all Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Western Equitation and Trail Classes with a shank bit with reins attached to each shank. Mouth piece may be straight, port or jointed. Slip or gag bits are prohibited. Junior ponies, four years and under, may compete in snaffle bits or hackamores. Chin straps must be flat and at least in width and lay flat against chin of pony. They may be leather or chain. See USEF rule WS105. For childrens races and game classes any bit or hackamore is allowed. 11. For all childrens Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Western Equitation and Trail Classes one hand only may be used on reins and hands must not be changed except to negotiate an obstacle in a trail class. Riders may hold romal or end of split reins to keep them from swinging and to adjust the position of the reins provided it is held with at least 16 of

rein between hands. Because of the age of our competitors judges will apply this rule with some leniency by deducting scoring points of performance instead of elimination. For childrens game classes, musical chairs and all races, riders are encouraged to use one hand but will not be penalized for two hands. PENALTIES: In all timed events a five second penalty will be assessed for each knock down of a stake, pole or barrel and a five second penalty if a contestant reaches with hand or arm to steady a falling stake, pole or barrel. DISQUALIFICATIONS: Runouts, refusals, or leaving the course in all events will disqualify the contestant. Any rider whipping pony with properties of an event will be disqualified. The use of a quirt, bat or spurs ahead of the cinch in any event will be a disqualification. Unsportsmanlike conductjudge may disqualify riders for unnecessary roughness or disorderly conduct of any kind and may disqualify unmanageable pony for reasons of safety. Decisions of the judge are FINAL. Walk/Trot Western Pleasure will be shown both ways of the ring at walk and trot with an emphasis on manners and control. Classes 402 & 502-Western Seat Equitation: To be shown western seat at a walk and trot both ways of the ring. At line up each entry will perform an individual test designated by the judge. To be judged on riders hands, seat and ability to aid pony. Class 602-Longe Line Western Seat Equitation: Parent or trainer to hold longe line. To be shown in western seat at a walk and trot both ways of the ring. Pony to be bridled with rider holding reins and exercising control of pony. Handlers responsibility to give the child the opportunity to perform the judges requests while concentrating on their riding skills, not keeping the pony in the ring. Judge may ask for a special test during the line up. Classes 403 & 503-Western Riding: Rider to follow a pattern that will demonstrate their skill in control of pony a walk, trot and lope. Patterns may be obtained prior to Fair by calling the Superintendent and will be posted in the barn. Class 612 will be simplified and will not require a lope. Classes 404 & 504-Trail Class: Course will consist of 6 to 8 obstacles, which may include a gate, bridge, back and over poles obstacles. Contestants may be asked to walk, trot or lope in different portions of course. Class 604 will be simplified and will not require a lope.

19. Classes 405 & 505-Pole Bending Race: Six stakes, 40 to 48 high and placed 18 feet apart, will be used. The start (finish) line will be 18 from first pole of course. A five-second penalty will be assessed for each stake tipped over. 20. Classes 406, 506 & 606-Barrel Race: Barrels will be placed 50 apart. Start (finish) line will be 20 from center line of 1st and 2nd barrel. Barrels will be painted white and will be 15 gallon size. Rider will have choice of direction to start his/her race, but must complete a cloverleaf. Pony game rules will apply. 21. Classes 407, 507 & 607-Figure 8 Race: Pattern will be posted in barn. Four stakes will be used: two set 80 apart at opposite ends of the course, with two center stakes set 14 apart at a point half way between the two end stakes. These two center stakes will mark the starting and finishing line. Rider starts between two center stakes and runs a figure 8 around the two end stakes, first turn optional as long as a full 8 pattern is completed. 22. Classes 408, 508, & 608-Keyhole Race: Pattern posted in barn. Keyhole will be constructed of poles laid out in pattern. Touching any pole on course will result in disqualification. 23. Classes 409 & 509-Scurry Race: HELMET REQUIRED. Course consists of three parallel low jumps (under 18) space 20 apart, 20 and around a marker and a return over the three jumps (pattern posted in barn). If a pole is knocked down it must remain down until rider has cleared the course. A five second penalty will be incurred per knock down. 24. Classes 410 & 510-Flag Race: Pattern posted in barn. Child must remove flag from four barrels and transfer it to next barrel in square pattern. Class 610 modified: Child will remove flag from human barrels and transfer them to next human barrel. Timed event. Rider must ride on the outside of the barrels but may circle a barrel if he missed the flag at the first attempt. A left handed rider has the privilege of taking the course in the reverse. 25. Classes 411, 511 & 611-Follow the Leader: May be ridden in English or Western tack as a team of two. To ensure that all individuals may participate, an individual may enter this class as part of more than one team. Each team will submit to the judge a copy of the course marked with their chosen transition spots. Gaits may include walk, jog, extended trot, lope and back. Children 8 and under will not lope. This is a control class and will be judged on maintaining equal distances from team
mate, transition of gaits and transition to change leader. Classes 411 & 511 will require four transitions minimum. Example: Walk-transition-jog; jog-transition-extended trot; extended trottransition-jog; jog-transition-walk. Class 611 will require two transitions minimum. a. All participants at Montana State Fair events are responsible for reading the General Information and Livestock Information sections of this handbook and complying with policies listed therein. AGREEMENT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS HEREIN STATED IS UNDERSTOOD WHEN THE EXHIBITOR SUBMITS THE ENTRY FORM. All entrants must complete a W9 form at time of entry to receive premiums. No entry will be considered complete unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fees. Late entries are subject to double entry fees on a space available basis. All exhibitors MUST purchase admittance tickets. A $25 exhibitor pass includes 10 adult admissions and/or a vehicle. Exhibitors 6-18 years may purchase a $20 exhibitors pass that includes 10 admissionsno vehicle. State Fair will provide one additional exhibitors pass for each $50 of entry fees. Each entry must be completed in full. Include the class code. Leg band number MUST be listed for each individual bird. All possible care will be exercised by State Fair in handling exhibits, but no responsibility for loss or damage in transit or during any phase of the exhibit will be assumed by State Fair. All exhibits must be examined by the superintendent before being allowed in the exhibition building. Any animal showing symptoms of disease shall be removed from the building at once and cared for by the proper authorities. A representative from the Montana State Livestock Sanitary Board will be in the building most of the week and will help examine exhibits upon arrival. Requirements of the State Livestock Sanitary Board as outlined in Chapter 12, Paragraph 1207, of the state regulations governing poultry shows will apply in this department. State Fair, being a member of the American Poultry Association, will conduct this show under the latest revised official show rules of this association. All awards will be made strictly in accordance with the American Standard of Perfection. All exhibits will be cooped under the superintendents supervision and no exhibit may be removed from cages or handled in any manner by an unauthorized person except by special permission of the Superintendent. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO. There will be no signs allowed on the coops at any time. All entries will be fed and cared for by the superintendent and staff. Entries may be shipped to Montana State Fair with prior notification to the superintendent on arrival time. All rabbit general rules apply. 2. American Rabbit Breeder Association chartered and sanctioned shows are governed by the latest official show rules of the association. Exhibitors who wish to register their stock under this system will have the opportunity to do so during these shows with ARBA registrar. 3. All rabbits will be judged according to ARBA Standard of Perfection. Sanctions at the shows will be recognized as required by sanction rules. 4. All rabbits exhibited must bear registration of pedigree, tattoo numbers properly placed in ear, and listed on entry blank and shipping crates. 5. No substitutions of entry unless of the same class, sex, age and breed. 6. There will be a fee of $1 charged for tattooing rabbits and a 50 cent charge for each changed made on entry blank. No ear number on entry blank will constitute a change. 7. All allowable changes must be made before the start of judging.

8. Management will refuse entry of all diseased and unsightly animals and entry fees on such animals will be forfeited. 9. The Montana State Fair and its representatives will not be responsible for damage or loss to exhibits. All care will be exercised by same to prevent damage or loss. Watchmen will be on duty at all times. 10. Judges decisions are final. Anyone interfering with, attempting to influence or deceive the judge will be disqualified and any awards won forfeited along with entry fees. 11. All fur entries must be entered in regular class to be eligible. 12. Rabbits disqualified from regular class are ineligible for participation in fur class except for animals eliminated for being over or under weight. 13. There must be 5 or more entries to compete for fur specials. 14. No breeding will be allowed in the showroom without consent of both owners and knowledge of show superintendent. 15. Cooping pens are available on a first come basis. Preference will be given to out of state and out of town exhibitors. 16. All exhibitors will be responsible for handling their own animals to and from the show table unless prior arrangements are made with the superintendent. 17. No litters accepted for display. Display could put health and welfare of young rabbits in jeopardy. 18. Any changes in scheduled judging times will be posted at the poultry, pigeon and rabbit desk in the display building. 19. Handsome ribbons will be awarded in all regular classes on 1st thru 5th place at judges discretion.

a. All participants at Montana State Fair events are responsible for reading the General Information and Livestock Information sections of this handbook and complying with policies listed therein. b. AGREEMENT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS HEREIN STATED IS UNDERSTOOD WHEN THE EXHIBITOR SUBMITS THE ENTRY FORM. c. All entrants must complete a W9 form at time of entry to receive premiums. d. No entry will be considered complete unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fees. Late entries are subject to double entry fees on a space available basis. e. All livestock exhibitors, herdsman and owners shall purchase admittance tickets. A $25 exhibitor pass includes 10 adult admissions and/or a vehicle. Exhibitors 6-18 years may purchase a $20 exhibitors pass that includes 10 admissionsno vehicle. State Fair will provide one additional exhibitors pass for each $50 of entry fees. f. Out-of-state exhibitors wishing to depart ahead of schedule must make prior arrangements with the superintendent. There is no limit to the number of flocks an owner may enter. If competition is from only one owner, premiums will be paid on the first place only. One owner is defined as one family and/or one business partnership. All sheep must be registered or pending registration within their breed requirements with their respective breed association. All lambs must be out of parents that are already registered. Partnershipowned animals must be entered in the name of the owner(s) as appears on the Certificate of Registry. Registration certificates or copies must be provided upon request of the superintendent. Premium money will be withheld until necessary registration numbers are provided on entry blanks in the event that the numbers are not properly listed at the time of entry. Program will list as per registration papers. Sheep need not be owned by exhibitor. Owner of record must be on entry. Sheep will be inspected for general health prior to unloading. All entries must meet health requirements of the State of Montana and of Montana State Fair for communicable diseases, lice, etc. Show veterinarian reserves the right to reject any animal for health reasons. Decision of the veterinarian is final. It is recommended that all sheep be sprayed or dipped within 30 days prior to the show. In addition, sheep must comply with health requirements from the state of origin. Refer to the Department of Livestock Health, Brand & Import Regulations under General Information in the fair handbook. All sheep must have an official scrapies ID tag.

ATTENTION!! All sheep will need a Veterinary Health Inspection Certificate issued within 20 days of exhibit. Certificate must accompany the animal upon arrival on the grounds and be available for examination for the duration of the exhibit.
REGULATIONS FOR FLOCK ENTRIES: 1. FLOCK DESCRIPTION: One ram (any age), two ewes (yearling or older), and 2 lambs (ram or ewe); must be of same breedneed not be related 2. Competition will occur both in the show ring and in the sheep display area 3. Supreme Flock will be determined in the following manner: a. The flock will be judged in the show ring. Points will be awarded by the judge. The quality of the animals presented will be scored relative to the standards of perfection of the breed. b. Exhibitors may prepare and present a 2-3 minute explanation promoting the attributes of the breed, its contribution to the sheep and wool industry, and comments on the individuals shown. Please inform Judge and clerk if you wish to do so. c. Exhibitors will be observed in their pen areas and points will be awarded based on herdsmanship and the interaction with and education of the public. d. Placings will be based on total points earned. e. Flocks must receive a minimum of 60 points in order to qualify for premiums. DIVISION 17: LAMB LOIN EYE ANIMAL EVALUATION This producer focused lamb evaluation is an opportunity to have lambs ultrasound tested. Ultrasound results are deemed property of the owner and will not be announced by Montana State Fair. CONTEST DATE: Sunday, July 31, 2011 ENTRY FORM DEADLINE: Friday, July 8th, at 5:00 pm PLACE: Livestock Pavilion WEIGH-IN: 11:00 am, Livestock Pavilion JUDGING: 1:00 pm JUDGE: Lisa Surber, Phd, Montana State University/Montana Sheep Institute, research scientist SPONSORED BY: tba REGULATIONS: 1. All health and brand inspection papers must be given to the superintendent upon weigh-in. 2. Exhibitors may enter more than one lamb. 3. Wethers, rams and ewe lambs are eligible. 4. Lambs must be slick-shorn no more than two weeks before the show. 5. Lambs must be properly ear-tagged. Ear tag numbers will be referred to upon registration. 6. This is not a terminal contest.
