When Liberalization was started in India


WHEN DR. MANMOHAN SINGH (THE
PRESENT P.M), WAS FINANCE MINISTER
AND PRESENT F.M MR. CHIDAMBARAM,
WAS COMMERCE MINISTER, IN MR. P.V.
NARASIMHA RAO'S GOVERNMENT.
 Prime Minister Narasimha Rao , along with his
finance minister Manmohan Singh, initiated
the economic liberalisation of 1991.
Meaning of Liberalization
 In general Liberalization referes to a relaxation of previous
government restrictions

 It is Freeing economy from Government control.


Benefits of Liberalization
 Increase the foreign investment.

 Increase the foreign exchange reserve.

 Increase in consumption.

 Control over price.

 Check on corruption.

process of opening up of the Indian ecomony
to trade and investment with the rest of the
