Bio for Heather L.

Fox

Current Employment:
Heather L. Fox joined CASA of Vermilion County as the Executive Director on July 2,
2007. CASA of Vermilion County is a new program being established to advocate for
abused and neglected children through trained volunteers.

Education:
Heather received her Certification as a Domestic Violence Professional from the Illinois
Certified Domestic Violence Professional Board in February of 2006. Heather has a
Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University in 2005 and a Certificate in
Nonprofit Management from the University of Chicago. Heather received her B.S. in
Psychology from Clarkson University.

Experience:
Heather L. Fox has a long history of serving children and families. Heather held the
position of Program Director for A Woman’s Place for two years (2005-2007). This
program of A Woman’s Fund, serves over 700 victims of domestic violence every year.
Heather worked to ensure quality services by established internal standards and measures,
and to increase awareness of domestic violence issues throughout the community.

As the Volunteer Coordinator and then the Community Outreach Director for Champaign
County CASA for two and a half years (2003-2005), Heather worked with the
community to find financial support for the program and volunteers to serve as Guardian
ad Litem for abused and neglected children.

Heather also has had extensive volunteering experiences. At the Campaign for Better
Health Care, Heather served for a year (2001-2002) through Americorps*VISTA as the
Public Education Coordinator for the Children’s Medicaid/KidCare Access and Quality
Project. She advocated for accessible, affordable, quality health care for children. This
work included developing committees across the state to identify barriers to quality
health care for children and develop local strategies to improve services and/or to pursue
statewide policy changes. Additionally, Heather has volunteered as a Loaned Executive
through Champaign County Untied Way (2001-2002) raising money for human services
programs, and serves as a Disaster Action Team (DAT) member with the American Red
Cross Central Illinois Chapter (2002-2007).
