Bahía de Caraquez , 

officially known as San Antonio de Caráquez and


founded under the name of Villa de San Bay Caráquez or simply known today
as Bahia, formerly Bay faces during the stage of the Spanish conquest. It is a
city of Ecuador in the coastal geographic regionbelonging to the Canton
Sucre, in the jurisdiction of the province of Manabi . It is situated at the mouth
of the Rio Chone , and has considerable tourism infrastructure that ranks
as cantonal head . The city is located one hour north of the city of Manta and
the pre-Columbian era was the site of the old Indian city of Carano. Across the
bay is the town of San Vicente. This trip is very scenic and can be performed
either in a passenger boat or a barge. Bay is a place of fun, there's hardly any
crime. Bay is one of the most exclusive beaches of Ecuador . Many people,
especially the capital city, Quito , vacationing there. In the early colonial
period was the host city government and administrative prefecture of
Caráquez .

Since pre-Hispanic times was the ancient capital of the Kingdom of the Faces,
an indigenous territorial entity comprising all of Northern Manabí Province
(including the eastern marshland Chone ) and part of the Province of Santo
Domingo de los Tsachilas. Was the main route of arrival of Spanish explorers
to conquer the present territories of the present Republic of Ecuador , mainly
on its way to conquer the Kingdom of Quito and the Inca Empire .

Currently Bahía de Caraquez has become an international sailing beautiful


anchorage, which for safety, tranquility and tourist facilities, in this city have
found an ideal spot for relaxation.
