Marine IceBuoy 20

Data Sheet

Durable ice buoy

for the Nordic waters

The design
The IceBuoy 20 has been designed to withstand
the Nordic ice conditions and function in shallow
waters of the Finnish Gulf in depths from 2 to 20
meters.

The design process was a partnership with

Tallinn University of Technology and Estonian
Maritime Administration. As a part of the scien-
tific research, bottlenecks of current buoys were
identified. The new design was achieved
through a series of simulations and application
of lifecycle calculation models.

Since its initial deployment in winter of 2007,

40 buoys have been successfully deployed.

Flydog Marine holds the key competence and a

scalability model for designing customer specific
ice buoys.
