In math class, answers are usually exact. But in the real world, sometimes Graphic: math class
estimations are more important than exact figures.

A good example of this is trying to figure out how many miles you’ll have to
travel during a trip.

We’re going to use four different map sites to find out the miles each site reports
to us about our trip.

First, let’s visit Google Maps. Enter Texarkana’s zip code (75501) for the origin. ss: Google Maps, with zip
Enter Dallas’ zip code (75201) for the destination. codes entered

Remember that the Rand McNally mileage calculator told us that the trip from ss: Rand McNally mileage
Texarkana, Texas, to Dallas, Texas, would be 175.7 miles.

Google Maps gives us three routes and three different mile totals: 182 miles, 194 ss: Google Maps result
miles, and 197 miles.

MapQuest gives us two routes and mile totals: 176.06 miles and 174.70 miles. ss: MapQuest result

Yahoo! Maps says 177.33 miles. ss: Yahoo! Result

Bing Maps says 185.3 miles. ss: Bing result

This is another good example of how you can use range to help estimate. The Graphic: range of miles
greatest mile total from Texarkana, Texas, to Dallas, Texas, is 197 miles. The given back
smallest mile total is 174.70 miles.

The range can be estimated to be 175 – 200 miles. The median of this range is Graphic: range, median,
187.5, which can again be estimated to 190 miles. another estimate

So how far is it from Texarkana, Texas, to Dallas, Texas? There isn’t just one Graphic: ???? Right
right answer, is there? answers!
