REFLECTION- TYPES OF LEARNING

What I learnt was types of learning which are mostly related with behaviorism.
However, we can choose proper one according to context or subject we teach.
For instance, if I want to teach pronunciation, I can make use of stimulus-
response learning as repetition is important in teaching pronunciation. Also,
multiple discriminations sound reasonable to me because it is necessary to
teach students words which can take several meanings and forms, so they can
be taught in context. I think I can encourage my students to take the advantage
of problem solving as it is all about internal thinking to find solutions for
problems related with learning. To solve their language problems, I will ask
them to find their own strategies by thinking, reading and searching for
language which will improve their self-confidence, independency or I will want
them interact with one another to put them in social context and make them
use their language.

We transfer our previous knowledge into new information and we also transfer
our native language to second language, but sometimes this can cause negative
effect on learning. For instance, we use some kind of expressions like “marry
with”, “I am agree”, “do breakfast” because we bring some rules from Turkish
our native language. Therefore, I need to be patient as my students will make
these mistakes while they are learning English. Moreover, I need to tolerate
some mistakes like “goed, buyed, gooder” as children overgeneralize some
forms of target language.

I think I can teach target language using inductive reasoning as the students will
have chance to meet many examples and by this way they can get some ideas,
opinions or questions before I give them the rules directly. That’s all.
