English Class – Interjections

Interjections – that part of speech, which denotes some affection or emotion of the mind
Interjections can be sounds expressed as words or actual words that are verbs or nouns.
Interjections are usually marked with an exclamation mark (!).

Some examples:
Joy – Great!
Grief – Ah! Alas!
Wonder – Aha !
Aversion – Pshaw!
Laughter – Ha ha ha.
Desire of attention – Hark! Listen!
Desire of silence – Hush! Hist!
Deliberation – Hum. Um.
Exultation – Huzza! Hooray!
Pain – O! Ho!
Taking leave – Adieu. Good-bye.
Greeting – Welcome.
