Refined analysis of non-linear behaviour of concrete structures by JM Kenyon R F Warner Research Report No. R 97 August 1992 Refined Analysis of Non-Linear Behaviour of Concrete Structures By JM Kenyon and RF Warmer Department of Civil Engineering University of Adelaide Research Report No. R97 August 1992 ABSTRACT Refinements have been made to a non-linear computer analysis procedure for concrete frames to take account of tension stiffening in the beam elements, deformations in the beam-column joints, and sequential, non-proportional application of the vertical and horizontal loads. This refined method of analysis simulates frame behaviour as the short-term load increases through the working load into the overload range and up to and beyond the peak, ultimate load. It is being used to identify the conditions under which non-linear phenomena are of practical importance in design and, in particular, to investigate the accuracy and applicability of simplified code procedures, such as the moment magnifier method and second order linear analysis, for the design of slender concrete frames.
