ACT Interactive TV gives you a whole range of fun and exciting features that are extremely easy to use. This User Guide will tell you how to operate your ACT Interactive TV, so you can make the most of its awesome features.

Now you can get DVD quality picture and sound, the best of local and international TV programming, millions of videos from the Internet, the latest and best movies - on demand. NOw, you will have the ability to watch what you want, when you want to - all just a button-click away!

So gear up, and get set to go where no TV has gone before. Happy discovering!

A list of commonly used words, and their definitions, to help you understand and operate your ACT Interactive TV better:

STB: Is a shortform for your ACT Interactive TV Set Top Box. This powerful little magic box that fits in the palm of your hand, gives you access to the world of ACT Interactive TV.

Path: Is the route you follow to reach a desired screen. Eg., "Home Page> Movies on Demand" means: to reach Movies on Demand, open the Home Page, scroll down the menu using your remote's Arrow Keys, and press OK to select and access Movies on Demand.

Genre: The style, category or classification of music and movies. Eg. In Music:

Classical, Popular, Retro; in Movies:

Drama, Comedy, Action.

Media: A collective term for music, videos and images. The name or title of any of these files is referred to as a Media Title.

Search String: The criteria you enter into a search bar, to conduct a search operation, is called a search string. Eg., if you want to watch a cookery show, you would enter "cookery show" as a search string.

Menu: A list of features or operations.

Video Streaming: The temporary transfer of data, so you can immediately view a chosen video.

Download: The permanent transfer of a chosen file, so you can view it anytime, since it has been saved for good.

USB Disk: Is a storage device that you attach to your STB.

Home Page

As soon as your STB is switched on, you will see the ACT Interactive TV Home Page. The Home Page lists out and organizes the various features of your ACT Interactive TV.

Use the remote's Arrow Keys to move up and down the menu to the desired feature on the Home Page and press OK to select and access the feature.

If, at anytime, while watching TV, you'd like to visit the Home Page, press the Home button on your remote, or press and hold the Back button for a few seconds.

Television includes all your better-than-digital quality TV channels.

Entering the Television category will take you to the menu of channels.

Channels lists all the channels available on your 1V

1. To access Channels, follow the path:

Home Page> Television> My Channels

2. Using the Arrow keys on your remote, move to the channel of your choice

3. Press OK to select and view the channel.

Perform more functions on this page by pressing the Menu button on your remote.

Live Shift

(Pause & Play Live TV)

ACT Interactive TV lets you control what you're watching, the same way you would if you were watching a DVD. And the best part is that it's as easy to operate! You can play, pause, rewind, and even skip videos.

While watching TV, press the Info button on your remote. This will call up the Playback Menu.

1. Using the remote's Arrow Keys, move to the task you wish to perform

2. Press OK to select and perform the task.

Spot Record

(Record a show while you watch another)

Your ACT Interactive TV lets you record one show, while you watch another, with the Spot Record feature. So now on, you don't have to miss any of your favorite shows.

You can watch any show that you have recorded, by accessing the My Recorded Shows folder in the My Collections page.

On your Home Page, use your remote's Arrow Keys to scroll down to the TV Guide option, and press OK to enter the TV Guide.

Using the Arrow Keys again, look for and select the show you wish to record.

1. Press the Menu Key on your remote, which will show you an Options box.

2. Choose the Record Show option, and press OK to begin recording the show.

3. Press the Home button on your remote to return

to the Home Page, where you can perform any operation - continue watching Tv, look for videos, etc.

The 1V Guide is your on-screen programme guide that tells you the next seven days' listing of all the shows, featuring across all the channels on your ACT Interactive TV.

1. Use the Up/Down Arrow Keys on your remote to move channel-wise

2. Use the Left/Right Arrow Keys on your remote to move across time bands.

Watching Movies

The movies available on demand, can be streamed and watched instantly on your TV!

1. To access Movies on Demand, follow the path:

Home Page> Movies on Demand

2. Use your remote's Arrow Keys to reach the category/genre of your choice and press OK to select

3. The Details Page that opens up gives you information about the selected video. Press the Page Up and Page Down buttons on-screen to read the complete summary

4. Select Watch Now and press OK, to start watching.

While watching a movie, press the Info button on your remote to call up a Playback Options Menu that will let you amtrol playback. You can pause, play, rewind, skip tracks and even zoom in, or out.

Don't be restricted by what your TV channels show you. Let ACT Interactive TV's Online Videos open up the world to you. You can search videos from all over the Internet, within the exhaustive ACT Interactive TV Archive, and even surf the latest rage, YouTube™ - all on your TV!

What makes your ACT Interactive TV truly like no other, is its Search provision. Look for any video anywhere in your ACT setup, using the in-built search engine that guesses, or pre-empts what you're looking for, as you are entering a search string.

Pressing Search on your remote will take you to the following page, which has the soft keypad.

At any time, while viewing any video, you can conduct a video search, by pressing the Search button on your remote.

Note: Pressing Search in a particular category (Eg., within Television) will yield search results listed in only that category (Le. you will get only channels from Television)

Using the soft: keypad:

The soft keypad is your on-screen keyboard that will help you easily key-in what you are looking for. What you enter, is called a search string.

1. Move among the three sections (the Search Bar, the Soft Keypad, and the Search Results list) on the Search a Video page, using the Right Arrow Key of your remote

2. Once you select the Soft Keypad, press OK to start entering the Search String. The different keys on your soft keypad have different functions.

Alphanumeric Keypad

A-Z and 0-9, so you can simply key in what you're looking for

Del

Deletes the last character you entered in the search box

elr

Clears the search box, so you can perform a new search

Space

Inserts a space (blank character) in your search string

More

Characters other than those on the alphanumeric keypad

3. Use the remote's Arrow Keys to select and directly enter alphabets and numerals into your Search Bar. You will notice that the search results in the Search Results list will preempt your search string, and the list updates itself constantly, as you complete your search string.

4. Once you see the thumbnail of the video you wish to watch in Search Results, press OK or Stop on your remote to stop searching. You will also see the number of videos your search has yielded, right below the Search Results list.

5. Use the Right Arrow Key on your remote to reach the Search Results list. Scroll up and down the list with the Up/Down Arrow Keys. Press OK to select and watch the video of your choice.

6. Press Back on your remote to exit video mode, and return to the previous page (the search listing).

7. Move to the Soft Keypad, and select the CLR soft key to clear the Search Bar, and start a fresh search.

YouTube™ is the most popular video sharing website on the Internet which lets you view and share the latest videos online. And now that you have YouTube™ on your TV, you don't need to use a computer to check out the best videos on the Net!

You can also log into your YouTube™ account on your ACT Interactive Tv, and access all of

YouTubeTMls privileges for its registered users.

To access the YouTube™ page, follow the path:

Searching YouTube™

videos from your ACT Interactive 1V

1. To reach YouTube™ Search on your ACT Interactive TV, follow the path:

Home Page> Internet> YouTube™ > Search

2. Use your remote's Arrow Keys to search for the video you wish to watch (Eg, Shahrukh - Om Shanti Om)

3. Using the Arrow Keys, select the video of your choice, and press OK to select and view the video.

4. Press the Back button on your remote to exit and return to the Search page.

Pressing the Menu button on your remote while watching a selected video, will display a menu that gives you options like:

Related Videos Lists videos relevant to the one you are currently watching.

These may be of the same genre, by the same artist, or ranked similarly by users, etc.

Bookmark this Video Bookmarks and lists the video under My Bookmarks in My Collection for future viewing

Add to Favorites* Adds the video to your YouTube™ account's My Favorites collection

Rate this Video* Lets you rate the video

Flag As Inappropriate* Lets you flag the video as not belonging to the category it has been listed in

Share this Video* Lets you share the selected video with family and friends

Home Lets you go back to the Home Page

* These options will be available when you log into your personal YouTube™ account.

While watching a video, press the Info button on your remote to open the Playback Options Menu.

You can use YouTube™ features like My Subscription, My Playlist, My Favourites, and My Uploads on your ACT Interactive TV by logging into your YouTube™ user account.

Note: Only existing YouTube™ users can log in.

Adding an Account

You can add up to four YouTube™ user accounts to your ACT Interactive TV list of users

1. To Add a YouTube™ account, follow the path:

Home Page> Internet> YouTube™ > Login

2. Press OK to select the Add Account option

The screen Add Account screen appears with the Soft Keypad.

3. Enter your Username and Password, and press OK to save the Username

4. Select Remember Password to save your password on ACT Interactive TV

5. Move down the menu to your username and Press OK to log into your YouTube™ account.

Note: In case you add an account that is not identified by YouTube, an error message is displayed on the screen.

Changing YouTube™ User Account

1. If you wish to change the YouTube™ account you have logged in from, follow the path: Home Page> Internet >YouTube™ > Change User, and press OK on your remote to enter the menu

2. Use the Arrow Keys on your remote to scroll down to the Username you wish to login with. Press OK to select and login with that Username.

Logging out of YouTube

1. To log out of your YouTube™ user account, follow the path: Home Page> Internet> YouTube > Login (you will notice that since you are logged in with a particular username, that username is in gray)

2. Using your remote's Arrow Keys, scroll down to the Log Out button on-screen. Press OK on your remote to log out of the account.

Removing an Account

1. To remove a YouTube™ user account, follow the path:

Home Page> Internet> YouTube™ > Login

2. Scroll down to Remove Account using your remote's Arrow Keys, and press OK to open the Remove Account Page with existing user names.

3. Move to the user account you wish to remove from your ACT Interactive Tv, using your remote's Arrow Keys, and press OK to delete.

4. Press Yes in the confirmatory message, and the account will be deleted from your ACT Interactive TV.

History

History lets you watch videos you have already viewed before, without having to search them all over again.

While on the History page, press the Menu button on your remote, to access a host of options:

The Internet will now unfold - on your TV! Look for a video anywhere on the Internet with the Net Video Search option to instantly stream and view videos.

1. To search a video on the Internet, follow the path: Home Page> Internet> Net Video Search

2. Using the soft keypad that appears, search the video of your choice

Videos Online

Videos Online is an exhaustive library of videos from the internet, divided and categorized into various headings and genres like Hollywood, Bollywood, Kannada Videos, etc.

1. To access the Videos Online, follow the path:

Home Page> Internet> Videos Online

2. Browse through the various categories and genres

3. Click OK to select and enter a desired category

4. Scroll down the category's listed videos with your remote's Arrow Keys.

My Collection lists videos that you have recently viewed, bookmarked, downloaded, or rented through your Acr Interactive TV.

To access My Collection, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection.

The videos in My Collection are listed under the following headings:

Use your remote's Arrow Keys to move up and down the menu, and press OK to select and access the category.

Your TV can also track what you've recently watched, so you needn't worry about looking for the same videos all over again. Videos viewed across all of

ACT Interactive TV's video categories - bookmarks, video searches, YouTubeT." etc. - are all remembered and recorded by this feature.

To access the Recently Played list, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> Recently Played.

The videos are listed in reverse chronology - the video viewed last will be first in the list.

While viewing a recently played video, press the Menu key on the remote to call up a menu that gives you a host of options:

MyVOD

When you rent a movie or a video in the Movies on Demand section, the rented title gets temporarily stored in the My VOD folder, for as long as you have rented it - so you can access it at anytime.

To access My VOD, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My VOD

Scroll up and down the list using the Arrow Keys, and press OK to select and watch a video.

My Recorded Shows

My Recorded Shows houses the TV shows that you have recorded using ACT's Spot Record feature, so you can watch these TV shows anytime, at your convenience.

To access My Recorded Shows, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My Recorded Shows.

Scroll up and down the list using the Arrow Keys, and press OK to select a video and watch it.

My Personal Media lets you share songs, videos and photos stored in your computer - all on your TV!

To access My Personal Media, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My Personal Media

Photos

You can now view and share your photos from your computer, on your TY, as a slideshow. The slideshow can be viewed through various options available under Photos, such as:

Albums - Lets you view a slideshow by selecting an album from your personal collection.

All Photos - Lets you view a slideshow of all the photos in your personal collection.

ACT Interactive TV supports pictures in *.jpeg or *.jpg format.

Viewing Photos as Slideshows

1. To access Photos, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My Personal Media> Photos

2. Select the album that you wish to view, or select All Photos

3. Select any photo to begin the slideshow and Press OK on your remote

4. To move to the next photo before it moves automatically press the Down Arrow Key

5. To stop the slideshow, press the Back or the Home Page button on your remote.

Video

To access Videos, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My Personal Media> Videos

ACT Interactive TV supports the following video formats: *.mpg, *.mpeg, *.vob and *.wmv

Watching Videos

You can view videos through the various options available under Videos such as:

Albums - Lists the video albums available in your personal collection, so you can view videos in each album.

All Videos - Lists all the videos available in your personal collection, irrespective of albums.

Select the video you wish to watch using the Arrow Keys on your remote. Press OK to select and watch a video.

Music

You can listen to music tracks from your PC, on your TV. You can also search for a specific track stored in your PC, as you would search a video.

To access Music, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My Personal Media> Music

ACT Interactive TV supports the following audio formats: *.mp2, *.mp3, *.wma, *.wav, *.Ipcm and playlists of the formats: *.m3u, *.pls, *.wpl

Listening to Music

Music can be selected or searched from various options available in Music like:

Albums - Lists all the albums in your personal collection.

Artists - Lists the tracks of various artists in your personal collection.

Genre - Lists tracks according to categories and styles.

All Titles - Lists all the tracks in your personal collection, irrespective of criteria.

Select the track you wish to listen to using the Arrow Keys on your remote. Press OK to select and listen to the track.

My USB Disk

1. Insert the USB Device (like a pen drive) into the USB port at the back of your STB

2. Then access your USB disk, by following the path:

Home Page> My Collection> My USB Disk.

Note: In order to use the pause and play function, you need to have an external storage device connected to the Set Top Box. Ask your Authorized ACT Service Provider (ASP) for the recommended USB Disk.

My Bookmarks

My Bookmarks lists the videos that you have added to the My Bookmarks folder while watching TV.

Adding a video to My Bookmarks

1. Select a video of your choice

2. Press the Menu button on your remote

3. Select Add to My Bookmarks, and press OK on your remote.

Viewing a video from My Bookmarks

1. To access My Bookmarks, follow the path:

Home Page> My Collections> My Bookmarks

2. Scroll up and down the menu using your remote's Arrow Keys

3. Press OK to select and play your favorite video.

My Favorites lists the channels that you have added to the My Favorites folder while watching TV.

Adding a channel to My Favorites

1. Select a channel of your choice

2. Press the Menu button on your remote

3. Select Add to Favorites, and press OK on your remote.

Viewing a video from My Favorites

1. To access My Favorites, follow the path:

Home Page> My Favorites

2. Scroll up and down the menu using your remote's Arrow Keys

3. Press OK to select and play your favorite channel.

Settings lets you manually control and configure your ACT Interactive TV experience.

• Network - Lets you configure the network settings

• Network Speed Test - Checks your network's speed, so you can calculate the estimated time required for an intended download

• ACT Interactive TV Account - Lists details related to your personal subscription and your billing information

• Language - Lets you change the language in which your ACT Interactive TV operates. (By default the application is set to English)

• Product Info - Gives you technical details about your ACT Interactive TV

• Legal - Enlists copyrights and the legal implica tions of misusing ACT Interactive TV.

Input

Connecting the Set Top Box to your TV set

1. The ACT Interactive TV STB is connected to your TV using an RCA Cable:

a. Connect the black connector of the RCA cable to the "AV Out" port on the STB

b. Then connect the yellow connector to the

"Video In" port of your TY, and the red and white connectors to the "Audio In" port on your TV

2. Connect one end of the power cord into the STB and the other end to the power adapter; plug the power adapter to the power outlet (220V)

3. Power ON the STB, and your TV set; switch to the Auxiliary or AV Channel on your TV Set

4. Once your ACT Interactive TV setup is connected to

the network, the ACT Interactive Home Page will appear on the screen.

Note: In case the network is not established you will receive an error message.

Set Top Box

Your ACT Interactive Set Top Box brings to your TV high quality video content, opening up a world of possibilities for you!

Your STB also indicates your connection status, by means of LED indicators, that are on the front.

ACT Interactive TV

LED Label Indication

Power Turns red when the ACT Interactive TV is in the standby mode and green when in operation

LAN Turns orange when in operation (LAN is your default connection)

WLAN Turns orange when you are connected to the wireless network

Online Turns orange when conncted to the Internet

Download Turns orange and blinks when a download is in progress

Remote Turns orange when a key is pressed on the remote, to indicate that the remote's signals are being received by the STB
