Thomas Charles Kaelin

Thomas Charles Kaelin, 72 of Hemet died peacefully at his home in Hemet with his wife Grace by his
side on May 22, 2011.
“Tom" Kaelin was born in Los Angeles on March 29, 1939. He graduated from High School at Mater
Dei in Santa Ana in 1957, and attended Orange Coast College, graduating with a degree in Petroleum
Technology. He served in the military for 2 years at the beginning of the Viet Nam War era. Tom grad-
uated from San Jose State College in 1966 with a BA in History/Social Science, and a Secondary CA
teaching credential. He obtained his MA degree in Counseling at Northern Arizona University, and
taught History 23 years for Hemet Unified. Prior to teaching, Tom was a manager for Montgomery
Wards, worked as a teacher/counselor for the Neighborhood Youth Corp in San Jose, and worked at IBM
as a supervisor. He obtained his Real Estate License after retiring from teaching, and became a Property
Manager.
Tom's greatest love was deep sea fishing. He traveled extensively throughout the world with his wife
Grace. He loved planting and harvesting on his 10 acre Ranchito near Sage. Tom was a man of great
faith, and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church since 1967. He is a member of The
American Legion, and NAMI Mt. San Jacinto, an advocacy group for those with a neurobiological brain
condition.
Thomas is survived by his wife Grace of 46 years, his son Kevin, sister, Susan, grand daughter, Christie,
30+ nieces and nephews, very close cousins Gretchen and Marcia, along with a daughter-in-law Anna
and 14 sister and brother-in-laws.
Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. June 2, 20ll at Miller Jones Mortuary, Hemet, and Rosary to follow at
6:00 pm. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Our Lady of the Valley
Catholic Church in Hemet, followed by graveside services at Riverside National Cemetery, 12:30 p.m.
There will be a dinner reception for family and friends at La Fogata Restaurant in Hemet at 2:00 pm.
