Honors U.S. History 1 - Preparation for Final Exam.

Mr. Linehan

Two of the following essay questions will appear on your final exam. Prepare for all three as you do not know which
two will appear. I suggest you develop an outline for each to keep in your memory as you cannot take any materials
into the exam.

1. Rank the four U.S. Presidents listed below from most effective to least effective with 1st beginning the most
effective and 4* being least effective, and then explain each of your rankings by explaining the successes and
shortcomings within their respective presidential administrations that led you to rank them 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

A. John Adams B. Thomas Jefferson C. Andrew Jackson D. Abraham Lincoln

2. This past semester we studied the four events listed below. Your first task here is to rank them from 1 to 4 on the
basis of the amount of political, social, and economic change that was generated by each of the four with "1" being
the greatest amount of change and "4" being the least. Then support each of your rankings by citing the actual
changes each event created.

A. Marbury v. Madison C. The Election of Andrew Jackson

B. The Invention of the Cotton Gin D. The Louisiana Purchase

3. None of the following ever became President of the United States, but they each had a great impact on U. S.
History. Rank them from greatest to least impact on America, and then cite as many pertinent historical facts as you
can to justify your ranking of each one.

A. Alexander Hamilton C. Henry Clay

B. John Marshall D. Frederick Douglass
