A current disconnect between
government and public perceptions

In August 2010 Research carried out by CTF Partners on 1000 voters found:

1. Whilst voters view the NHS as a UK icon, they like it for its universality rather than the
quality of its outcomes

2. Voters view private hospitals positively and 41% would choose private healthcare if they
could afford it

3. 48% of people think the Government should offer financial incentives to go private

4. The majority of GPs are not asking patients if they have private health insurance and the
majority believe that if someone can afford to, they should use private healthcare
