DC Cares

The African American Music Association is hosting a fundraiser called "D.C. CARES" on June 5, 2011 at Eclipse in Washington D.C. to benefit Reese Palmer of The Marquees. The event will feature live performances from 14 musical acts including The Marquees, The Legendary Orioles, and The Velons from 4:30pm. Ticket donations are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Proceeds will go to Reese Palmer, who is gravely ill and was a childhood friend of Marvin Gaye who performed with several groups in the 1950s and 1960s.

For those who might not remember Reese Palmer, he was a
childhood friend of Marvin Gaye, attended Cardozo High
School (Class of '56), sang in the D.C. Tones, The Marquees
and The New Moonglows, along with Marvin, Chester
Simmons and James Nolan during the late 50s and early
60s. Later on, he also sung with The Legendary Orioles and
The New [Link], he is gravely ill and this
fundraiser is being held for him. Come on out for a good
cause and enjoy the evening!
