10 Household Cleaners You Already Own

Instead of artificial chemical cleaners, you may already have these 10 simple household

cleaners lurking inside your home.

1. Play dough or clay—roll into a ball to pick up shards of glass.

2. Microwave—to keep kitchen sponges from building up with bacteria, rinse them with

water and microwave them for a minute or two.

3. Paintbrush—use to dust hard-to-get corners and grooves. Use a pastry brush for more

delicate materials such as the glass of a photo frame.

4. Baking soda—place an open box in your refrigerator to keep it smelling fresh and clean.

5. Ice—throw a few cubes into the garbage disposal once in a while to clear up grease on

the blades.

6. White bread—roll into ball and dab paintings to get off dust and grime.

7. Salt—mix 3 tablespoons with 16 ounces of vinegar in a spray bottle. Wait for a few

seconds, spray onto the copper, and then rub clean.

8. Dryer sheet—place in pot, fill with water, let sit overnight, and then sponge off the next

morning.

9. Coffee grounds—like baking soda, a bowl of coffee grounds can be put into a refrigerator

to keep odors away. Change once a month.

10. Antacid tablets—drop two in toilet bowl, let dissolve and wait 20 minutes, then brush and

flush. This loosens mineral deposits in the toilet bowl.
