Overview
What is Lifecycle Management?
The lifecycle management tool uses Subversion and IBM ClearCase rational
version management systems for version control. Subversion is a third-party
freeware whereas IBM ClearCase is a configuration management system
from IBM. Subversion is integrated with the lifecycle management installer
whereas ClearCase must be installed separately. However, if your system
already has Subversion or ClearCase installed in it, then you can choose
not to install.
For more information about the lifecycle management tool, see the SAP
BusinessObjects LifeCycle Manager User's Guide for XI 3.1.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites
The lifecycle management for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 patches
only to an existing lifecycle management application.

Installation
This chapter describes how to perform a patch installation of lifecycle
management for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1. It supports the
single-box deployment, where all the lifecycle management components are
installed on the same system.
You can install the application by either using the graphical user interface or
the command-line interface. This chapter discusses both the types of
installations in detail in the following topics:
• Installation by Graphical User Interface (GUI)
• Installation by Command-Line Interface (CLI)
4. Enter the CMS name, port number, user name, password, and
authentication mode in the appropriate fields.
5. Click Next.

This section describes how to install the lifecycle management for SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 by using the command and the response
file.
A silent installation is one that you run from the command line to automatically
install software on any machine in your system, without the installation
program prompting for information during the installation. The silent
installation is particularly useful when you need to perform multiple
installations and do not want to interrupt users who are working on machines
in your system.
You can also use the silent installation command in your own scripts. For
example, if your organization uses scripts to install software on machines,
you can add the silent update package command to your scripts to run the
update package silently.
Note:
This command installs all components. However, it does not deploy the
web application because the LCM_PATCH_DEPLOY is set to 0.
The following table lists the parameters used in a silent installation. To use
a parameter, place it on the command line after the setup command and the
installation file path.
You can also create a response file to run your silent installation. A response
file records the configuration information that you normally enter during the
installation process.
To install the lifecycle management tool by using the response file, enter the
following command in the launch terminal, for example:
\\10.193.0.140\builds\Titan\Mi
ra_RTM\882_keep\win32_x86\release\packages\LiveOffice\set
up.exe -r c:\response.ini
Note:
During the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 deployment, if other servers
like Web Logic, WebSphere are selected for auto deployment, those servers
can be auto deployed during the lifecycle management for SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1.
