Main Idea
What?
Students analyzed the topic and the author’s point being
conveyed in the artwork from artists in Haiti after the
January 2010 Earthquake.

So what?
Students were able to put these two ideas together to
easily identify the Main Idea of the piece.

Now what?
The students will make connections between their artwork
analysis and use the same technique and process chart to
easily be able to identify the Main Idea of Nature’s Fury
themed texts.

ELA: 2A5a – identify/explain specific words or phrases that contribute to the
meaning of a text. 2A4c State and support main ideas and messages.

Visual Arts: 1A1a- Analyze how physical qualities of people, animals, and
