Sentences starting with ‘If’ are very tricky a need a proper dissection and explanation about

when to use which type of sentence. If can be used in following cases:-

1. Wish (it is unfulfilled and you express a condition on the basis of this unfulfilled
condition) this is also called SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD.
2. Possibility (something which can happen in future but you are not sure)
3. Doubt (you don’t know if this had happened. Something which might or might not
have occurred in past.)

Example of type 1

a. If I were a king, I would have given enough money to every poor person. (subjunctive
mood)

अगर मै राजा होता तो मैं सभी गरीबों को पर्याप्त धन दे दे ता| (लेकिन मै राजा नहीं हूँ और ये एक इच्छा है | )

b. If he had gone by plane, he would have reached by now.

अगर वो प्लेन से गया होता तो अब तक पहुँच गया होता |

Example of type 2

a. If it rains, I shall stay at home.

अगर बारिश होती है तो मै घर पर रहूँगा| (यह एक पोसिब्लिटी है जो की संभव भी है और नहीं भी)
b. If I earn thirty thousand per months, I will be able to repay my all debt.
अगर मै प्रति माह तीस हज़ार रुपये कमाता हूँ तो मै अपने क़र्ज़ चक
ु ा सकंू गा|

Example of type 3

a. If it rained, he would stay at home.

अगर बारिश हुई थी तो वोह घर पर रहा होगा|

b. If he knew the answer, he would tell you.

अगर उसे उत्तर पता था तो उसने तुम्हे बता दिया होगा|

(यहाँ पर यह इच्छा जाहिर नहीं की जा रही है की काश उसे उत्तर पता होता. यहाँ पर पास्ट के बारे में
एक स्टे टमें ट है की, अगर उसे उत्तर पता था तो उसने तुम्हे बता दिया होगा| यहाँ पर यह पक्का नहीं
है की उसने तुम्हे उत्तर बताया की नहीं|)
