ACTIVITIES IN THE PRESENTATION SKILLS WORKSHOP

1. A 3 minute presentation on any topic of delegate choice The objective is to videotape each delegate and then replay the same and give feedback on all aspects of his presentation style. This serves as the most powerful learning tool and internalizes for him the areas which he has to consciously work on. This is done on Day 1 and Day 2. The objective of the Day 2 is that delegates actually get to demonstrate their learning and see how they come across when they have worked on their presentation and their presentation style. It reinforces their results and makes them conscious of areas they still need to work on. 2. Visual Input Control Effective speaking to a group Here the delegates practice effective eye contact with the group. Each delegate does it. Objective is to train the delegates in the difference of style of individual eye contact in a one to one communication and eye contact with a group. 7. Know My Hobby Practice of Questioning This is a paired activity, in which each delegate practices asking open and closed ended questions to his partner to fully understand his hobby/interest. This trains the delegates on probing and listening skills. This skill is necessary for a presenter during the question and answer sessions.

PRESENTATION STRUCTURE WORKBOOK: This is a list of workbook questions which the delegates first spend time answering on their own and then syndicate it with the entire group. The objective is to build on what they already know and make them participate in the learning process vs. a lecture download. 1. Why do you have butterflies when asked to make a presentation? 2.
