to IUCN, there are 15,589 endangered species which is 7,266 species endangered animals & 8,323 endangered plants.  The IUCN Red List names over 1,000 mammals species, almost 1 in 4, as facing a threat, with 180 species being critically endangered. endangered

Common Name : Giant panda Family : Ursidae Scientific Name : Ailuropoda melanoleuca Habitat : Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forests Location : Southwest China (Gansu, Shaanxi, and Sichuan Provinces) to the east of the Tibetan plateau. Status IUCN : Endangered Population : Approximately 1,600 individuals in the wild

Panda
In China they call the Panda Xiongmao, which means Giant Cat Bear. It only eats the leaves, stems, and shoots of various bamboo species.

Ecology & Habitat of Pandas


 Pandas inhabit the bamboo forest zone between 1,200 m and 3,400 m.

Population & Distribution of Pandas


 Pandas are confined to temperate forests scattered across 6 mountain ranges in southwestern China.

Life Cycle : Panda


A newborn panda cub weighs only 90-130 gram. 90gram. Pandas are dependent on their mothers for the first few months of their lives. Pandas leave their mothers when she conceives again, usually at about 18 months. A panda's average life span in the wild is 14-20 14years.
