Thomas Edison was an amazing inventor. He is most famous for his perfection of the light bulb. Some called him The Wizard of Menlo Park just as a newspaper reporter had called him. When he was young got the sickness Scarlet Fever. It is believed that this contributed to his near deafness. Samuel Edison had a shipping business that relied on the railroad. When the Milan stop was excluded from the railroad, Edison s family had to move. When he was 7 he started selling candy and newspaper on the Grand Trunk Railroad. Thomas later became a telegraph operator when he saved a little boy whose father happened to own the railroad, in return the father taught Edison Morse code and how to use a telegraph machine. Once he set fire to a barn and his father set about advertising that he would punish Thomas in front of the whole village to teach him and other kids not to do such a thing. Thomas Edison had just 3 months of real schooling. Because of this you may think he cheated when inventing all his wonderful things. He did not continue his schooling because his teacher called him addled. Once he asked his mother the question why do chickens sit on nests, his mom replied to let the chicks hatch Edison inquired again what s hatch his mom said to heat your eggs . Later that day his mom found him sitting on some eggs he had collected. His mom home schooled him for a few years. Thomas Edison s accomplishments ranged from the electric vote recorder, which was his first patent, to the Motion Picture Camera. Many people think he invented the light bulb. This is, in fact, not true. All he did was create the first commercially practical bulb. Edison claimed he had every feasible material known to man. He had a nickname; it was The Wizard of Menlo Park. Thomas Edison was ingenious, inquisitive and of all things scared of the dark. That is why he worked so hard to perfect the light bulb!
