FRIDAY

Call to Worship Begin your time of spirituality with a challenge from God: Who is like me? Let them proclaim it, let them declare and set it forth before me. Who has announced from of old the things to come? Let them tell us what is yet to be. Do not fear, or be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? You are my witnesses! Pentecost and Kingdomtide

The Season of Another Way

Breviary for Common Spirituality: A Prayer Guide for Personal Devotion

June 12 - July 23, 2011
A Guide to this Breviary Spend time each day in prayer and reflection. Throughout this season, be joyful. As you pray, listen for the voice of God. After you pray, look for the image of God in others. Do not feel guilt if you miss a day. Rest in the forgiveness of God simply start again, right where you are. What is Pentecost and Kingdomtide? Pentecost and Kingdomtide, the liturgical season spanning the second half of the year, call us to live another way. Rather than embracing the cultural, national, and economic values and identity of this world, we choose the example of Jesus by living as citizens of Gods Reign.

Remember, we practice our spirituality together. May our prayer together, even when we are apart, nurture our common faith.

Daily Prayers and Readings

We pray together, as our Lord taught us, saying Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. The Beatitudes from Jesus Sermon on the Mount Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
