Installation Methods
The different methods of installing Windows XP are as follows: Standard Installation or attended Network Installation. Automated Installation.
Standard Installation
The most likely method used by home and small business users. During Standard installation, the user remains at the computer to supply information that is needed by Windows. This type of installation can be started using a bootable floppy or XP bootable CD.
Network Installation
Network installation is another type of method where Windows XP file are located on a network share. Network installation remove the need for the user to have an installation CD Winnt.exe can be used for installing XP from 16bit (Dos) application. Winnt32.exe can be used for installing XP from 32-bit application.

Automated Installation
Automated installation is one that does not require a user to provide information during setup. There are two methods for automated installation Unattended Installation Remote Installation Service Disk Duplication
Unattended Installation
An unattended installation an administrator uses a program called setup manager to specify answers to many of the options that are required during setup . Setup Manager creates a text file called answer file from which windows XP setup can pull the information.
PXE-Boot Rom IC is required for remote installation. or Remote Boot floppy with a network card supported for remote installation.
Disk Duplication
Windows XP includes a program named System Preparation Tool ( SysPrep.exe) that allows administrators to prepare images of a Windows XP installation. Using the created image administrator can install that image in all other machines which has identical hardware.

Clean Installation
Clean installation is one in which there is no existing operating systems on your computer.
Upgrading 9x to Windows XP
Upgrading installation is one in which Windows XP is installed over an existing previous version of windows. Windows XP will overwrite the existing operating system.
Multiple Boot
Multiple boot installation is a one in which multiple operating systems are installed on the computer.
